I'm not so sure he does look massively quick just yet, quali will sort the wheat from the chaff.

I thought they looked very close and not so far ahead of the pack? Have I missed something?

I'm ignoring Nico's poor time in 2nd session. Better getting tripped up now than in qualifying (Lewis will probably get the bad luck there)

I suspect it won't be easy but he will romp away from the pack. Let's just hope he keeps it together in Quali (I have to say I do wonder if Rosberg getting a "telling off" by the team has pretty much put Lewis' head in a good place) and takes Pole.

Fernando Alonso goes quickest with a 1:47.299 - Actually i thinks Mercedes hide their real performance, both Mercedes car carry more than 60kg fuel in the Practice three.

Results - Free Practice three

Old habits die hard.

But if you are referring to the Perez instruction on Sky they said a mechanic texted them to say it was in pit garage (which wasn't shown on the FoM feed).

Would be great if the pace is real and they are in the pack, but more likely both Merc drivers wanting to hide data from each other, now it can't be shared over the air? Didn't see Lewis' lap but Nico looked like he could go a lot faster. Apparently he wasn't happy with something though, lots of discussion on the pit-wall after the session.
I think based on everything we've seen this season the Merc are miles ahead of the other cars.

As you've said, I'm thinking it's not showing true pace to each other...great fun!

Perhaps the earlier FI message when he said "in sector 2 you....no, can't say that"

The lcd screen on the Merc steering wheel is quite big isn't it. I reckon they could circumvent the radio rules by sending the drivers a text message

Bloody county cricket on Sports Extra, I hope the 3 people listening are enjoying it. BBC really are inconsistent with their GP coverage, and generally rather st.

Two way telemetry is banned.

So the pit cannot send a message to the car...
