Would be good to see teflonso back in a macca, then see if he is all that or if he is just the same as everyone in a st car....st.
...because seeing him repeatedly, comprehensively outperform the not-particularly-impressive Ferrari of the last few years is just not enough.
Exactly, the mind boggles.
Sorry I should have pointed out I was being facetious!

It will be the usual crap trotted out that he isn't as good etc etc, then Hamilton appears and is amazeballs, if the cars is crap, its the car, if he is ace, its all him etc.

Alonso is very very good, I just don't get Mclaren's idea that throwing an expensive driver in the thing will sort chassis issues. Unless the 2015 car is a new chassis design, they are going to be tottering around again.

I want to see all the top guys in competitive cars, the Merc battle is great this year but when its down to 2 from the start its a bit flat, better when 2 or 3 teams are all in with a good shout. Which, tbf, it was like for the last few years bar this year and one year where vettel just walked it in about 9 races.

Button is getting all the stick that he is crap and deserves the boot, apart from the fact he is outperforming his last 2 teammates, but because he isn't 'dragging' the car to top 6 positions, he is crap, what if the car is a 10th place car, and him getting 7th is an amazing achievement. People just like to moan about Button and its not fair, he is very good and the paddock admits that, Brundle rates him very highly, but because he was seen to be 'gifted' his 2009 win, he can do no right in many fans eyes.

I just don't want to see him out of a drive because McLaren see $$ signs from Santander and all Buttons effort and work he put into making McLaren a team around him amidst the Hamilton hype was for nothing. I realise its the world of F1, but would still leave a sour taste.

You cannot outperform a machine's capability. Physics dictate what a machine can do within it's environment, the driver can take the machine to the physical limits, but once there, they are just that... physical limits.

The only thing Alonso outperformed in the past 5yrs has been post head bump Massa (nothing to brag about) and Kimi who has come in to Alonso's team and is only geeting to grips with the car now.

Don't get me wrong, he is good. But, he cannae change the laws of physics.
+1 I think Alonso has a team of people spreading word that every season's car is a dog.

I still think Alonso will stay at Ferrari next year. 2016 could be a different story.

I don't really see the attraction of Alonso going to McLaren. The Merc engine they have is already the best by a mile - will Honda arrive and have an advantage. Unless McLaren have super chassis to match then they won't be any further ahead than where they are today.

Also, what if Red Bull go with Honda in 2016 (regardless of current contracts with Renault) - a RB/Newey chassis with a Honda engine and Alonso driving - now that would be a prospect!

I'm sure Ferrari know where they are losing ground - perhaps FA should stick it out for another year and see what the new structure and investment brings. Looks like Ferrari have made some progress lately.

Really ? the Merc, Williams, Red Bull and even the Force India look ok to me, the McLaren less so. Sometimes the Ferrari looks just horrible.

You forgot disloyal as well.

Part of the reason McL are in the doldrums is because of the Stepneygate fiasco. The irritating thing is that his, and PdlR's behaviour is what gave Mosley a lever to attack the bloke he hated. The fact that Dennis survived him must - at least I hope so - make him very bitter. It is irritating in the extreme that the two who were the only ones to benefit, at least knowingly, from the Stepney 'theft' of data were not punished.

But, as I said, it was all a long time ago and if I keep disliking him for something that happened so long ago, one of my newer dislikes will have to be sacrificed as there's only so many you can keep going.

I was thrown out of a museum at Culloden Moor due to upsetting a bloke who was still angry about something that occurred over 300 years before. (I put him right about history.) I told him that he should let it go. I don't often give good advice but I was spot on there. So I should follow it myself.

Mind you, it is pretty cool being thrown out of a museum for being disruptive.

On top of all that, FA is an exciting driver and that's what I watch F1 to see. If I can forgive LH for that haircut, then LA's behaviour becomes less serious.
Quite right, how could I have left out disloyal, that is probably the nail in the coffin for me as far as this individual is concerned.

Spot on about Stepney-gate and I share the same view that two of the real culprits got away with it.

But we differ on one big point; I still don't see FA as being any more exciting (better) than LH or indeed one or 2 others.

Would have loved to have seen you being thrown out of a museum smile Must have been some scene you created!

A coachload of mixed nationality was on a tour of Scotland at the same time a friend of mine and I were, us in a car. We bumped into them four times and got on very well with most of them, especially a German couple and a French family, e latter with a charming 12 year old lad.

The mad Scotsman ranted off about the Culloden battle, forgetting to mention that they were rebels and there were more Scots on what he called the English side than on the rebel side, which had expected French support.

He went off on various tangents and then started to go on about the slaughter post battle, which was terrible given modern niceties, but in those days was hardly unique. I didn't say anything.

He mentioned a letter which condemned 'The English' as butchers, but instead of pointing to it, then on display, he touched a typewritten copy. The French kid walked up to it, examined it, then turned to his (absolutely gorgeous) mother and said something along the lines of: 'Did they have typewriters all that long ago.' in delightfully accented English.

Mad Scot then shouted at the kid to the extent that dad dragged the shocked kid away. I lost it a bit and had a go at him for abuse of the child and then moved on to him inventing history. I finished by saying: 'It was 300 years ago. Move on.'

It all went quiet. I then said that many in my family were killed or widowed during the two World Wars and asked the group is there was any German there. I knew there was, a chap with an English name, like Kevin. The bloke, who spoke immaculate English, said, if a faux German accent: 'Yah. I am Helmut, and I am from Berlin.' (Or whatever.)

He then came forward and it was my intent to shake his hand but he had other ideas and put his arms around me and patted me on the back. The crowd, more than just the coachload, applauded.

Mad Scotsman shouted something incomprehensible and then ordered us all out.

Once outside everyone saw the funny side of it all. I apologised to the French couple but they waved it away.

Nothing to do with F1.

I completely agree.

I simply don't understand why so many people believe he can drag a car to a position it shouldn't be in.
