Vettel to replace Alonso at Ferrari

McLaren and Alonso have agreed terms but both parties would rather be working with someone else.
Ron would rather have Lewis back and Alonso would rather try Mercedes.
Ron can't stand Alonso, would rather have the younger and faster Hamilton anyway, but will accept Alonso if there is no chance to re-sign Hamilton on a long term deal with Honda.
Both parties are hanging around on the off chance........Hamilton has all the keys.
I'm thinking on these lines, that maybe more of a personal hope than reality-but the whole thing with the delays is very odd. Ron would rather have Lewis back and Alonso would rather try Mercedes.

I think I read that Honda have agreed a 10 year deal with McLaren Is that right? If so why would you put someone in the car on a 1 year contract who clearly doesn't want to be there, who having seen & driven the spangly new Honda engine, plus McLaren 2016 designs, promptly upsticks and leaves for a competitor manufacturer.
In favor of this scenario - Hamilton's complete breakdown of relationship with his 'buddy' Rosberg. Long term links to Ron & McLaren, the warm historic glow of McLaren Honda and Senna, his hero. I don't think it would be that hard for Ron to sell the dream.
For Merc - replacing Hamilton with Alonso is not exactly a bad deal - and would allow them to potentially have team-mates that get on a bit better - although if NR does win the title this weekend then that dynamic could be slightly different.
Vettel hasn't gone to Ferrari because they have the best car - more I suspect the challenge of building the team back up and achieving something Alonso didn't..... Maybe the lure of Honda at McLaren is too great (and Lewis can get his Yellow helmet back, with the McLaren being Red & White - ).
Sorry all I suspect a bit silly - but fun though - would be great.....

Imagine that. Nico wins WDC 2014, Lewis returns to McLaren and Alonso drives for Mercedes as the clear number 2 driver... Good luck negotiating number 1 driver status to the current WDC!RobGT81 said:
I imagine Hamilton is costing Mercedes a bit more than Rosberg? They don't need to pay so much if there car is so quick that anyone can win the championship. Bring Alonso on board and take his sponsorship money instead of paying for Hamilton
Lewis must bring in something in sponsorship. He's also huge in America, which has to be worth something. I have an American roommate at uni this year who knows nothing about F1, but everything about Lewis.RobGT81 said:

Is this the Alonso that is going to be getting paid fortunes?? Lewis is far more marketable around the world than Alonso as well.

Those West-sponsored cars with Mika and David is one of the sights of my childhood. Generation thing, I guess.

That livery made me want to smoke marlboros. Iconic, and would work (and did- when cig sponsorship was tightened up/censored for certain races) even without the marlboro logo.Still have my senna mclaren mp4/5 Onyx model in that exact livery- my favorite F1 car of all time

I need a little lie-down.
If you need a lie down after that, then check this gallery out... searchable as well:Senna. Monaco. The number 1. The best looking F1 car of modern times.

Gentlemen, it's all academic. If you want to talk about good looking, indeed stunning, F1 cars just consider these. I know it's an age thing but I remember when these were first wheeled out they had the same impact as when the E-Type Jaguar was launched, every schoolboy went out and bought the Corgi Sharknose Ferrrai!
