Vettel to replace Alonso at Ferrari
Discussion
No such thing as bad PR, it's closed season and the only team peeps are talking about is McLaren, the only people that care are hard core fans and they simply don't count.
Honda must be rubbing thier hands and bowing lots to RD for all this free PR during the quiet season.

Frankly I've gone beyond caring now, and I suspect most F1 fans are the same. I don't even care whether or not they announce it tomorrow or whether it is crying 'wolf' again. Meh. We'll know before the 1st race next year and if K-Mag and Jenson are happy to be kept hanging on and dicked around then that's their decision. We'll know when we know.

The problem is they are not the ones setting the dates either (unless they set a firm date recently, I gave up paying much attention). It's just the media with a "source" - or in other words complete nonsense. The only actual "date" I saw was Ron saying it would be after Dec. 1. It's like everyone complaining about Pagani building loads of "last ever" Pagani. Pagani have never said any of them are the last car to be built - just that the Cinque was the last run of cars. So all the people complaining about Pagani continuing to pop out another one are completely wrong on the facts, it's just media spin.NRS said:

Aye. Which could be any date. I used to irritate the hell out of my (now ex) step-son by, every time an advert came on telly that said something like "up to 30% reduction", asking "what does that mean?" and he'd wearily (and dutifully) reply "anything from zero upwards, so it means nothing".
Well, maybe I taught him something before I passed out of his life.

I doubt you've actually witnessed any of what you wrote, in fact I'd guess you haven't really got a clue about what's really going on at Mclaren, nor what's involved in any presumed negotiations?
Add the fact that McLaren aren't obliged to keep the general public informed of any of their business and contractural discussions, and I think it becomes clear that the 'damage' you think is being inflicted by McLaren on themselves is really more of a forlorn hope on your part than reality.
Once the driver line up is announced, all this crap will soon be forgotten, whoever drives for them.
People habe just read the same internet speculation so many times over that they've forgotten it's only speculation and now believe it to be truth.Add the fact that McLaren aren't obliged to keep the general public informed of any of their business and contractural discussions, and I think it becomes clear that the 'damage' you think is being inflicted by McLaren on themselves is really more of a forlorn hope on your part than reality.

This is a great example - there is no quote or source for the story! That said, they'll get it right one of these days they've announced so many dates as being "the one", http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/30417196

FINALLY! Official confirmation and an end to all the prevaricating.

But 20 Autosports do have a lot more content than just an F1 write up.
True, but I find the current Autosport a shadow of it's former self. For a dedicated Motorsport magazine I find the contents lacking proper detail.
A few pages covering a Grand Prix, no great detail or behind the scenes or background info.
Le Mans 24hrs covered in a few pathetic pages. You could fill the entire issue with info from the whole event!
F1 launches with the bare minimum detail. What about features on the teams to go with car launches.
I suppose I remember autosport being in its prime in the days when info on motor racing wasn't so accessible on the internet. Each Thursday used to be when you got all your information and it was fresh info.
