What I would find most exciting would be Ferrari returning to LMP1 to battle Porsche once again at Le Mans.

There are a couple of teams he could buy and then rebadge eventually. Or immediately if he wants.
If that's what he decides to do then he'll be wanting to beat Jack Brabham's achievement in '66.

But he should be mindful of Graham Hill at Monaco in '75.

I see Domenicalli has been formally announced as joining Audi to spearhead new developments, or something to that effect.

And now Ricciardo has stated that 3-car teams are the way forward.

There still seems to be all sorts of potential for all sorts of outcomes to all of this!

Oh, and Button is adamantly against 3 car teams, even if it meant he could stay on the grid.

So, it sounds like the teams are stating their position through their drivers then.

Does that not rule out McLaren? I doubt "people will be very, very excited" if he simply confirms that he's off to McLaren? It would just be confirming what we've all assumed for months smile
I for one shall apoplectic if he shows his smug, arrogant face at Team M.

I think Stefano's new job is nothing to do with it. His new role isn't even in the sporting side : http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/audi-confirms-do...

Its just people speculating that he's coming back to F1.

I cannot possibly imagine a duller role for a man of his experience, "service and mobility, due to his extensive international experience."
and
"Mr Domenicali will not be head of motor sport."

Neither statement precludes F1 or any other senior motorsport role.

This has been going on so long even the rumours have made a come back hehe

Seems to have some substance if the quotes from Lopez are genuine:

It is true that for some time to discuss how we could do something together

one day it does not surprise me or Alonso or another of an F1 cockpit Enstone

And would he have even been on Sauber's radar had he not driven for Caterham? No. F1 needs small teams, if only to give drivers a chance to shine. Or fail.

Is Sauber any bigger a team than Caterham? I'm not so sure.......

They've taken him for his backing IMO. $18M is not to be sniffed at, and he can hardly be said to have shone this year.

Ericsson improved quite a bit once they changed the braking setup on the rear of the Caterham, sounding beating Kamui at Sochi by half a second.

He's not going to set the world alight but I think he's better than e saw for most of this season.

Bigger? I'm not sure either but I'd guess they probably are in terms of budget and personnel.

Better? Without question - by any reasonable measure yes they are a better team.

He isn't bringing 18m though, Brundle mentioned this in commentary yesterday and it's considerably less than that.

That is what was widely reported he brought to Caterham, by sources just as dependable as Brundle. It may be less this year but he's certainly buying his seat, as opposed to being paid by Sauber to drive, let's say.

Well, I didn't say they weren't better, but even with a possibly bigger budget they've still managed to get 0 points this year and are close to the edge financially. Hardly a 'big' team.

Same here. Can't stand the smug fker. Detest him for the damage he caused at McLaren. Quite why Ron would prefer Fred over Jenson is beyond me.

He tried to screw Ron during the Stepneygate 'espionage' bks.

A mere $100 million dollars of damage.

I do understand he had an argument with RD. He's not been the first to do this, nor the last, I imagine. The fine was imposed by the FIA for cheating. How did FA cause damage?

FA tried to blackmail Ron into giving him clear no.1 status over Lewis by threatening to tell FIA that McLaren had made use of info leaked by Stepney. Ron called him by telling FIA himself, then Spankie fined McLaren $100M though there was no proof McLaren had used any of the data
