Hi Chaps

Looking to head out for the last round in November.

From memory I've seen threads saying you're best flying in to and staying in Dubai and just driving in for the GP ?
Any advice very much welcomed

We went two years ago. Flew BA to Abu Dhabi and stayed on the Corniche (Seafront). Trip to the Yas Island circuit takes about 20-30 minutes dependent where you stay in Abu Dhabi. We stayed at the Millenium Hotel along with the Renault team. The Hilton by the emirates palace is another good hotel. Taxis are cheap and plentiful, especially when leaving the circuit. We were back in our hotel having a beer half hour after the race finished, it's very well organised. Two car parks full of taxis, lots of buses to various points in town.

We had a full day trip to Dubai but I preferred Abu Dhabi. If you stay in Dubai you'll have more choice of flights and hotels but you've got a 1.0-1.5 hour taxi ride each way to the circuit depending where you stay. You can hire a car but driving standards are variable and taxi prices mean it's not really worthwhile. Some airlines operate a free shuttle service between AD and Dubai but the bus times aren't ideal. Again, taxis are plentiful both ways, expect to pay around £40 or so each way. Buses run regularly between the two emirates and are dirt cheap. Taxis in AD are slightly cheaper than those in Dubai. There's more to do and see in Dubai but if your only going for the GP I'd recommend AD over Dubai. There's plenty to do and see in Abu Dhabi including Ferrari world if you plan to stay a bit longer as we did.

Yes, It's not a cheap trip and nor is the UAE generally. We spent around £2700 each in total for a week, including flight upgrade to Premium economy. Booked 6 months in advance so got some cheap seats.

Most years for the race itself the top advice seems to be "take a good book". This year with a heady combination of a tight championship and the lunacy of double points may be different.

Yep - well this year we should have (!?) a British champion and it would be great to be there for it (fingers crossed).

Bit more advise needed

What do you think is a better option - sitting on a boat or from one of the hospitality suites in the Viceroy
I think the hotel will be better for watching the race ?

Thought about doing the boat but after speaking with several people and checking You Tube (I know) we decided on the Paddock Club.

Thought the same - We'll either be paddock or in the Viceroy with hospitality. Still waiting if we've been granted the golden ticket wink

Since your now driving for Caterham you probably know more than me anyhow....

According to my itenary just GP2 & GP3, Saturday 18.40 & 12.05. Sunday 14.20 & 13.00.

Just seen that The Who are starting their World Tour concerts after the race on Sunday.. Typical as I already have
tickets for them @ Leeds.

My crowdfunding fell flat - couldn't afford the taxi from the airport.

But joking apart I'm gutted I can't go at the last minute.
