Not necessarily. Today is the earliest an announcement would be made if they had one to make.
I am guessing this will drag on a bit longer yet.

Not the appropriate way to treat Button, IMO. Dennis is losing his team a lot of friends. Not that he seems to care.

I see that Antti Vierula, personal trainer to Kevin Magnusson is leaving McLaren as of yesterday! Does JB dare to dream?

Dream and join Audi? ;-)

Really don't think McLaren is a place for JB anymore.

Possibly so, but would he put up with the ste to be sure of a drive in F1. I'm very keen to see what difference Alonso could make alongside JB. If Alonso blows him out of the water then all those JB detractors would be very satisfied. If he held his own all the fanboys of JB would have even more reason to believe. Of course the way PH works everyone would still maintain there own opinions (which some mistake for fact) and just have new set of reasons why..

Still could be a defining moment in both careers.

Be even funnier if JB blew Alonso away.

He was also trainer to Perez and Hamilton so it's possible he might have been centrally employed by McLaren?

What would be funnier is if JB and Alonso just matched each other. No one would have a clue how to deal with that! biggrin

In which case we could all lobby Ron to keep JB on for 3 years so we can debate who beat who and by how much over 3 seasons together.

I like JB but is he really the sort of driver Honda want? He isn't known for being good at development or a hard racer who will push the car to the edge of the limits, so why keep him ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. KM will not win a wdc while I have a hole in my arse.
It's unlikely Button will win another anyway...
This is true, and the same can be said for Alonso as well, who I do not think will win another.

Is KM any good at development?

I was under the impression that Button was a very good development driver.

Exactly, but also how do we know that KM, or any driver, is that good at development?

Valid, but irrelevant when it comes to brass tacks. If JB brought $40m with him and KM brought $30m, I am 100% certain that JB would be at McLaren next season.

How much can they get through merchandise? Probably a drop in the ocean compared to those stats, but Button shirts and caps must sell an awful lot more than Magnussen. Especially at Silverstone.

The only reason it would be unlikely for JB to win another title is that he is probably unlikely to be in a championship winning car before his F1 career ends which is equally true of all the other drivers!
