...... and even if he had the best car for the most of 2009, is still a WDC, ....
Sorry to be picky but I don't think he had the best car for most of the season. He had a dominant car in the early dry races and then by Turkey, where he got his last win, the Red Bulls were better but Vettel threw away the win on the first lap. For the last 10 races no one was consistent enough to close the lead he'd built.Mr_Thyroid said:

Also people always say it like it isn't true for most champions!
True but only some folks say that.col68 said:
Kevin's potential trajectory is upwards and he has proved he can race , yes he's made a few mistakes but has impressed in and out of the car .......I for one hope he retains his seat at Mclaren.....Perez has certainly got the better of the much hyped Hulkenberg in the second half of the season, another driver Mclaren should probably have retained.....again points tables don't tell the full story.
Perhaps but it is one quantifiable marker of a drivers performance, especially against their teammate who (usually) has the same equipment.Jenson has said in the past he wasn't interested in any endurance series, but I suspect that was only to keep his F1 hopes alive.
If he does go to the WEC I'm sure he will be exactly like Martin Brundle was, when leaving F1 for TWR Jaguar, depressed as hell untill the realisation that the cars are nearly as quick-faster in some areas- the drivers are just as competitive, and some great circuits.
With his 'easy on the car' driving style he should be successful, my only concern is that as car setup is necessarily a compromise,(2 or more drivers)he might not get the car exactly to his liking.

I know the F1 Driver situation is "complicated" regarding who actually employs them etc but come on if you want your Car to finish and bring points for the constructors then is there anyone better than Jenson. Are MaClaren going to Honda engines next year because again Jenson has a very good relationship with Honda.Or did I just make that up?

Yes, statistically there are several.johnxjsc1985 said:

They're going to Honda engines, but Jenson's relationship with Honda has zero to do with itjohnxjsc1985 said:

I do really like Button, but would quite like him to retire now. We've got quite a few drivers there now that are on 10yrs+, and i think that's retirement time, and time to let someone new in.
Alonso: 14yrs
Button: 15yrs
Massa: 12yrs
Raikkonen: 12yrs
Yes out of a field of 40 plus drivers those four ar still on the top 25% performance and consistency wise (not sure about Raikkonon as he seems a bit off form this year)Alonso: 14yrs
Button: 15yrs
Massa: 12yrs
Raikkonen: 12yrs
