I think we can all agree it would be tragic if he doesn't have a seat next season.
Jules Bianchi's situation is tragic, Michael Schumacher's situation is tragic, imo JB not getting a 16th year in F1 is hardly tragic, so no, we can't all agree on that.gibbon said:
Very true. I do think its sometimes forgotten though, yes they both had problems, but that's racing, as an average over three seasons in the same car its about as good a measure of two drivers as possible-
2010 LH - 240. JB - 214 Highest McLaren driver LH in 4th.
2011 LH - 227. JB - 270 Highest McLaren driver JB in 2nd.
2012 LH - 190. JB - 188 Highest McLaren driver LH in 4th.
Total LH - 657 JB - 672 Best season driver finish 2nd by Jenson.
Quite interesting stats really, however you choose to read them.
Points...meh.2010 LH - 240. JB - 214 Highest McLaren driver LH in 4th.

I'll take championships, wins, pole positions.

As a long term Mclaren fan i spend money every year on merchandise , if they let Jenson go and take of Fred my money will go elsewhere next year !!!!!! Sick of them as a team and the poor way they have treated Jenson !! Quite clearly they do not care about the fans but if enough of us move they might listen !!
Ah, but Tux, I hear McLaren are changing their corporate colours to bright green with bits of exposed carbon to mirror your Noble......London424 said:

Well, in that case, as runner up in 2011, Jenson out performed Lewis statistically in that measure also.I'll take championships, wins, pole positions.
Just as a side point, how do you expect to win a championship without focusing on points? That is the very essence of the competition.

Don't have Audio at work so I can only see the video. Could someone please summarise what was said?
Alonso was asked if he could choose a team mate, would he choose Jenson. Seb says "he said yes earlier!", and Jenson leans over. Thats it.

I understand your point, but it was equal equipment and Constructors' points puts bread and butter on the table.I'll take championships, wins, pole positions.

Fairly amusing exchange. Eeyore Button seems to have regained some sense of humour at least.
He was mildly amusing with DC, EJ and Suzi Perry after the last race. He was past caring or knew he was leaving F1 but he showed a bit of wit and sparkle then. Edited by carinaman on Thursday 20th November 15:38

When all is said and done and your career is over the big boys are measured in Championships, Race wins and Pole positions.
The also rans are measured in things like number number of points or most times completing a race or race starts or some other nonsense.
Jenson just posted on twitter photos of his "very special" drivers room in Abu Dhabi. Includes photos of him with Frank Williams, his dad, his girlfriend, his first F1 win and winning the WDC.
Fairly strong hint I'd say that he's leaving F1.

The number of points you score is worthless unless you win something from it.
I disagree. Wins & championships demonstrates you have the fastest car on the grid that day. If you want to measure two drivers against each other over a season it's on the WDC position, i.e points (or positions for the back markers)How would you compare Sutil and Gutierrez when neither have wins? It has to be on their WDC position.

For drivers like Alonso, Vet, Ham, JB etc they are measured in Championships, Wins and Pole positions.

Becasue of Alonso they'll have arguably the best driver in the field, and the one driver who has the potential to consistently outdrive the car...
Physics is physics, not even Alonso The Great* can change that.dr_gn said:
You've proved my point: The same laws of physics also apply to Raikkonen and Massa.
No I did not, you knob. The same laws of physics do apply to Raikkonen and Massa, unfortunately, until lately, the Alonso led team politics have not given Raikkonen and Massa a fair chance of exploiting the laws of physics.
