sadly true, although has been that way for a while. But more than ever it now seems size of wallet is more important than talent or record. I'm sure 1/2 or more of these young guys getting into F1 don't match up to the requirements for a super-licence other than through 'do 300km in an F1 car without messing up' - it should be the exception not the rule.

Mclaren are paying him to talk Button into going to the WEC and save them the effort of picking a driver.

Hmmm with all respect to Claire Williams she wasnt long at secondary school when that happened, it's her train set now. She appears to be doing a fine job. Williams now is not the same as when DH got the boot.
williams should bin massa an offer jenson a seat unpaid. I recon he'd go for that.

Don't disagree but didn't JB renege on a Williams contract previously - and had to buy himself out of said contract for several million?

Having said that if Fernando can go to McLaren then maybe JB could go to Williams.

However he won't bring much personal sponsorship, Massa brings loads.

In F1 anything is possible. Best driver to partner Alonso at McLaren....Bottas....RD has form in poaching drivers from FW before....

Jenson doing donuts at the end there.

Says it all for me, you'll be sorely missed JB.

His interview just now wasn't giving anything positive at all.

They need somebody in that car who can actually do a doughnnut...

Kidding. But I think I'm putting my money on the Alonso/Vandoorne combo now.

Deserves to keep his seat, to finish the season with two great drives, won't be the same without him.

Agree with the majority in this thread, been a massive JB fan for years, if he isn't in a McLaren seat next year then something is very wrong..

Ted on Sky rightly pointed out that McLaren should be very thankful to Button, he single handidly kept them above Force India in the constructors, must be worth a few quid.

Getting a lot of deja vu. Remember Brazil in 2008? Lewis winning the championship while Jenson's future was in doubt.

Maybe in 12 months we'll be celebrating Jenson winning the title biggrin

Me too. At least he doesn't currently have a drive, but whether or not his post race chat with Ron (perhaps pointing out just how much money he saved the team today) will get anywhere!?!?
