I know cigarette advertising is now banned, but dont think there's anything stopping them using the colour scheme.
Lawsuits from Philip Morris and Ferrari probably would stop it.
Yeah, mr big conglomerate would be livid at getting for free what they pay millions for...

...although if the current mclaren performance curve doesn't reverse you right be right that they wouldn't want even free association on it.

Of course this means it won't look anything like that. AT ALL. It is nice though. Keeps the Chrome look they've carried for the past few years as well as introducing the Honda colours as well.
What are the "Honda" colours?
Honda traditionally races in white with red accents - representing the Japanese national flag.

John Surtees was pretty epic then..

Don't forget a bit of blue:

It isn't like Honda has any sporting cars to advertise a link to F1 with these days.

There is the eternally coming soon new NSX. That might actually get released while McLaren have a Honda engine.

I dunno - quite how they'd manage to sue whilst still maintaining the pretence that the Ferrari doesn't carry any Marlboro sponsorship would be amusing.

A majority red and white scheme isn't without precedent either:

Ok, so they have some cars that may benefit from an F1 presence after all...

I still can't believe there isn't still some connection given how mclarens motif is just a rounded off Marlboro chevron

I was always told that the party line is that it is a (very) stylised kiwi

I hope it changes - it was okay with the red Vodafone decals but now it's the dullest car on the grid IMO.

That white / yellow / red render above looks fantastic and would certainly stand out!

I wish all the cars had much simpler paint jobs - FI and Red Bull/TR are incohesive and particularly muddled at the moment.

I'd like to see the Honda-McLaren in papaya orange, with Honda written on the side.

(BTW, I bet it's Honda-McLaren, and not the other way around.)

IIRC the racing colour for Japan is white. Much the same as green is for England/Britain. I.E. British Racing Green.

I'd expect to see something white/red/silver.

I visited the factory in the summer and was told it is a mash up of the Marlboro chevron and the old kiwi logo.
