ETA: I'm having a fit of the Bernie's - can't get this twitter stuff to work for me. Anyway, it's a nice picture of some Caterham airfreight being unloaded with a fork-lift in their pit garage.

Mercedes will pretty much engineer a car failure to sabotage Hamilton's title chances this coming weekend to aid the German. Even a blind man can see that from a mile off.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/30082188
By going out with that statement, it is clear they'll be cooking something up this weekend.
"As much as we in the team don't want that to happen, it wouldn't be the end of the world," added Wolff.
Yeah right.. nice use of reverse psychology to convince people Rosberg winning with Hamilton DNFing is not such a bad thing. Hmmmm.....

Oh not this st again. The Merc team is multi-national, based in the UK, with many senior people being British, and the two so-called German head honchos are actually Austrian (which is akin to calling Eddie Jordan an Englishman). Also it's no secret that Niki Lauda favours Hamilton.
Finally, Rosberg isn't even German.

"We want the championship to end in a straight and fair battle and not by one of them breaking down."
and then
"As much as we in the team don't want that to happen, it wouldn't be the end of the world,"
I.e. An intelligent man can identify that it's just sport and not the end of the world.

Double points....... I asked myself how likely are they to actual have a significant impact on where the title goes. We've heard lots of discussion about how people hope they aren't significant and we've seen lots of summaries of how each driver can win the title. But I wanted to understand how many scenario can happen where double points change the WDC.
Of the 90 (whoops - 81?) possible combinations of both Mercs finishing in a point scoring position, double points changes the outcome in 16 possible combinations :
Scenario where double points change the outcome of the title.......
1) Nico wins and Lewis finishes 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th. (Any lower than 6th and Nico would win under normal points)
2) Nico finishes 2nd and Lewis finishes below 6th (if Lewis came 10th they would be equal on points under normal points system)
3) Nico finishes 3rd and Lewis finishes 7th or lower
4) Nico finishes 4th and Lewis finishes 9th or lower
5) Nico finishes 5th and Lewis finishes 10th or lower.
Lewis DNFs and Nico has to finish 5th (would have to have finished 2nd under standard points)
Having worked that out (probably incorrectly due to basic arithmetic errors), I don't actually feel any better informed but I thought it worth a post anyway.
