Alonso didn't look so keen in the press conference (link posted above.) Maybe because he knows JB would give him a good run for his money.
More like he realises he'll be driving round hoping to finish in the top 10 most weeks.

Blimey. For once the rumours were true...

Ferrari: F1 team replaces team principal Marco Mattiacci
I would like to point out that the rumours were true about Janet Devereaux as well. My teens were a tough time.

F1 is a team event and failure is rarely one person's fault. I've found that when the head is sacked then those with ability often look elsewhere as they are, understandably, a bit wary about a further blame apportioning exercise touching them.

Given the dominance of the Merc, and how powerful the Merc engine is, Ferrari didn't stand much of a chance this season. Whilst most of us rejoice at the success of the Williams team in 2014 and the final race in particular, no one would expect them to have been so competitive if they had had a Renault pushing them around.

Williams had Mercedes power, fair enough.

Red Bull had Renault engines, which is down on power to the Mercedes and similar power or maybe less than Ferrari, a new driver to the team and a car that spent most of its testing time, parked, on fire, or in bits. Red Bull beat them, 405-216 on points.

Ferrari had their arse handed to them this year.

IMO McLaren are in a worse state, they had the Mercedes engines, and finished behind Ferrari.

So what are the drivers up to? Vettel is leaving the second best team to get into what Alonso is getting away from, Alonso is (probably) moving to somewhere that is hoping the Honda engine works for them.

I've not been a member on this forum very long, but even I've noticed how some regular members on these threads have suddenly disappeared since Lewis winning the championship!?....

Can anyone be THAT bitter about it that they decide to crawl under their rocks!?....

I don't mean to upset them, but it looks like little will change for next season, so they may want to try their hands at watching other sports hehe

Does anyone else find it as amusing as I do that because it was Nico with a car "failure" there is no talk of conspiracy about it......

I can't imagine the same would be true if it was Lewis who lost the Championship due to a car failure.

Ferrari had an equal opportunity along with Merc to develop the engine and chassis together. They just ballsed it up.

McLaren has decent drivers. Some good engineers - that new chap from Redbull who just joined will help.

Mclarens problem is in management and direction.

They need new blood for sure - Ron and Eric need to go.

Their strategy tends to be st, and Ron/Eric have to shoulder the responsibility. This new engine gamble had better work.

Which is partly my point. In such things as technical design the leader of a team would have limited impact beyond personnel and resources. It's a team thing.

Yes, but the Ferrari (or Italian in general, perhaps) way is for the leader to either fall on his sword or to take an enforced piscine nap. smile

It makes it look as if those in charge, who picked this chap in the first place, are doing something positive whereas they are just reacting.

I think the fact that Lewis had already overtaken Nico, and it almost felt like it was a cruise home for Lewis that the 'conspiracy theory' hasn't been suggested

No "conspiracy theory". The car failures ended up even after all, sure it could have been Hamilton's car that failed - it didn't, that's how the cookie crumbles eh! live with it, Lewis won the race.

Its been a great season between them and I think its just gonna get better next year especially for Lewis. Kudos to Nico too, he was gracious in defeat and even praised Lewis as the best man won, respect there.

Battle on for next year. biggrin

Interesting graphic:

Shows the gulf in performance - the Mercedes even after losing ERS was still as fast as the Caterhams.

I think everyone will acknowledge the Merc was head and shoulders above the rest this season, but we can't forget that for Lewis to win the Championship this year, it was far more of a challenge than any of Sebastian Vettel's 4 championship seasons.

He had a genuine apponent, and it was a genuine fight till the end.

Absolutely, and why this championship meant so much to him. Hope the same cigarette paper difference is maintained next year.
