The original B&H Jordan in 1996 was a sort of mustard yellow, up until Monaco, when it was re-painted gold. I understand they needed to figure out a shade of gold that wouldn't look awful on TV - but I may have made that up in my imagination
Probably right as like I said above companies are more concerned how a car looks on TV rather than in the flesh. The Jaguar paint was seen as too dark at the first few races.

Exactly, Hondas corporate colours are red & white, not orange & white. It'll be red & white. Can't see Movistar coming in as they have a big ££££ multi year deal with Yamaha MotoGP!
If that is working for them they may want to extend it to another audience.

McLaren have just tweeted that they've fired up the engine in the car for the first time today at the factory.

You reckon they've given them white overalls to not give away the colours of the livery?...

Well its a mobile 1 filming day, so you'd think any new title sponsor or sponsors would be on by now.

Ron holding out then for top dollar

Apparently tied into Ferrari until 2016.

Mclaren as a whole don't look to be in the best shape, the F1 team has no sponsors, the road car aide isn't selling as many cars aos expected, they're registering cars and over stocking dealers at the moment, things really don't look to be turning around any time soon. Let's hope they bring a good car this year, just for morale sake.

Santander is a sponsor of both Ferrari ( until 2017) and McLaren (renewed last Thursday).

I remember hearing exactly that. The sponsors are far more worried what the cars look like on the TV and in the days before HDtv huge amounts of research was done on how the colours would look. I distinctly remember the Jordans changing colour on nearly every week end trying to get the colour right.

Be interesting to know size of those deals, the Ferrari one was a big deal, the mclaren a smaller affair maybe £5m a year i wonder if that has changed with Alonso arriving.

McLaren are fine, although lack of title sponsor will hurt in long run as honda won't pick up the slack forever

Seems odd that there wasn't a Santander logo (that I could see) in the photo of Alonso in his overalls, whereas in previous seasons it was prominently placed across the front of the overalls.

Maybe there is some strange personal legacy due to his extraction from the Ferrari contract early. Would be odd for the Brit to have the Santander logo on his overalls but not the Spaniard.
