I think it looks Ok, the problem is; most of you were expecting/hoping for the old Marlborough era colour scheme and I'm afraid, it was never going to happen.
Sure some people were after a return to Marlboro colours, which I agree will never happen.

There was however such an opportunity to create a new livery that just adding a red stripe to the old one, which will always be associated with Mclaren/ Mercedes/ West seems a bit odd, that and I never thought that it looked great on the TV last year when it was being lapped wink .

Honda racing colours were red and silver, iirc.

I must say, I quite like the look of the car. I know it's not red & white what you'd expect from Honda, but I think it still looks nice.

Surely all that's been revealed today is a minimum-effort temporary livery?

There's no major sponsorship, and until there is, I'd guess there's no final decision on colourways. One thing: it's clear that Honda has not (yet?) coughed up enough $$$$ to influence the colours.

Maybe the red stripe idea came from this.

I'm sorry that's bloody boring!

Was seriously hoping for a bit of a shake up and not another sodding black/silver/grey combo on the grid! Why do teams not want something that stands out a bit more!

I preferred it when they used to unveil the cars in Orange and then decide on the paint scheme after.

But that does look like a rather lazy effort.

Do they have shares in a chrome paint company??

I guess the black/silver(chrome)/red colours are their current corporate ones, so it's what they're going to use.

That's all fine, if Mclaren hadn't spent the last few months strongly suggesting a white/red livery, so they've shot themselves in the foot here.
They weren't suggesting a white and red livery, they were inferring a return to a succesful past partnership; McLaren Honda, I suggested as much when everyone was creaming themselves over a return to the white and red livery from the previous McLaren Honda days.
Pedantry alert: McLaren implied a return to a successful past partnership, but 5RedLights inferred they meant a red and white livery.

I'd always assumed the red and white was more to do with Marlboro than Honda, hence why the colour scheme didn't change when McLaren were powered by Peugeot.

From above it looks remarkably similar to the 1998-2000 colour scheme?

Is it just me or does it look like the force india with the colours reversed from the cockpit back?

There's never anything exciting colour wise nowadays, long gone are the yellow "Bitten & Hisses" Jordans or orange McLarens.

fks sake. I was having a fine evening and now I have been overcome by crushing boredom. Boring, fking boring. Here is a team which is so resistant to evolution that it won't even change the colour of the paint in over fifteen years. Boring. fking bored. Thanks Maclaren. fk.

McLaren can't win with some people can they. How often are they accused of being boring and corporate and having no sense of humour and that is a bad thing. So they do something like this video and get criticised for it.

Lighten up guys, McLaren have!
Trying too hard, more like a drunk uncle dancing at the family party trying to impress his nieces schoolfriends, that was excruciating.

No wonder jens looked so miserable on sky news earlier.

Almost - AkzoNobel are one of their corporate partners and developed the chrome paint used . https://www.akzonobel.com/news/pressreleases/2009/...

The video teaser with the kid colouring in the MP4/4 red and white, with the 2015 car front end below, was very suggestive of it being the same colour as the earlier Mclaren Hondas. Good point about the Peugeot though.

It's a real shame they didn't go for something more adventurous. Lotus have shown that using a retro colour scheme can be very popular and gave them a very cool brand image, up until everything went rubbish for them at the tail end of 2013 and 2014.
