If I got a chance on the first lap I'd be tempted to invite Lewis up the outside somewhere and run him wide, a few other cars might get through. Wouldn't fancy my chances though hehe
Stewards may well take a dim view of that.....

And he can cruise to the flag, but if Lewis sits behind him to the end....

so if the mercs sail off in to the distance whats rosbergs options to nick it then?

roll the dice on a "racing incident" that may knock either of them out?

...Kicked up the arse by Wolff and Lauda and told to sod off.

Exactly. Trying to back Lewis into the pack is a hell of a risk when one of the best overtakers on the track is sat behind you.....
absolutely, but having hell of a risk and just a tiny bit of chance to succeed is a lot better than having no chance at all because in a clean race the 2nd place is guaranteed for that mercedes car even if it's driven by Takuma Sato let alone LH

so he simply has to slow down and lure LH into a battle, no other options for him

True, but Hamilton will be well aware of this fact, and so will the stewards too. Really its a case of dammed if he does try something and dammed if he doesn't. But agree he has got to have more than just hope that LH car fails.

Nico can back them both up, let Bottas go past then try to overtake Bottas late on, leaving Ham too little time to respond.

Ham should be very wary of going into battle with Nico tomorrow. I wouldn't trust him at all.

I do think it will be trickier than it sounds to back Lewis up into the Williams.

It could very well end up with Lewis just blasting past in the DRS zone and pulling away from there on.

Hopefully hehe.

Except whilst Nico is slowing them down, Lewis will be diving up the inside of a corner or switching on DRS..............

well if LH overtakes then he will have to push to keep the first place so a lot more chance for screwing up or car failure, on the other side if he just coasts in 2nd place till the end then virtually nothing could happen to him

Depends how and where you do it. Stop it on the apex in tight section. See Alonso v Schumacher (I think) in that infamous race where ITV cut to adverts on the last lap.

Why, when 2nd is equally as good?

Got to say that that is my belief as well.

The Monaco incident shows that he's devious, more so that Schumacher. It was a clever move.

I reckon he will have something rather odd planned for the start.

If it was me in charge of Merc and I was concerned what the fallout would be from an incident on track, I'd ensure that NR's software for the start had a glitch. Not a big one, but enough, say the revs dropping at a critical point. Just enough to make it a bit of a sluggish start, perhaps fifth of sixth at the first corner. It is fair to say that I'd be that worried that both cars might be out on the first lap.

Now a starting glitch, well that could be down to NR getting all excited.

I've got concerns regarding the behaviour of NR. He's unpredictable.

If what Wolff hinted at is true then LH's car is set up for racing rather than qually. I would assume this means that it handles better when there is more than fumes in the tank. I think the race will be over fairly early (one way or that other). NR is in a difficult position. He has no options, the cars being 1.5 secs faster than the field remove most. LH being kinder on tyres, and more economical of fuel all remove options.

This will either be a bit anti-climax or else a race we'll talk of in years to come due to some incident. I'm not sure which I'd prefer.

Lauda agrees with me biggrin

I do take your point BUT I don't think Nico is as good at keeping others behind him in that way. Saying that of course last race he did a superb job under pressure from Lewis.

Nico will have paid fellow semi-Finn Bottas to meddle with Lewis
Lewis has paid for Stevens to have a Jean - Louis Schlesser type of F1 career
Nicole Scherzinger will be cornered by Nelson Piquet in the pit tunnel and the ensuing rumpus will block the pit exit just as Lewis tries to leave the pitlane.

A cunning plan Baldrick would be proud of.
