Rumoured that he will be returning as from 1 January 2015.

If that happens Fred will kick himself for ever.

I know that Ross has denied it but who knows. It's F1 & anything can happen.

Also rumour that Mattiachi is leaving.

That was quick.

I wonder if he was a stand in until they got Ross Brawn back on board.

He was just standing in I think - looking at how Piero Ferrari (who looks a lot like his father) was standing next to him in the garage today I think he'll either be back off to his old job in the USA or brought over to Italy to run the commercial side of Ferrari.

Mattiacci's hiring was always about the Ferrari succession plan. No one previous has ever ascended to president without some involvement in the F1 side.

I didn't think it would be quite this quick, but it would be reasonable if he gets Brawn to return to the road car side having been 'instrumental' in turning around the F1 team. That'll be the dominant soundbite too.

I don't know why but I just can't see Ross Brawn coming back. Having said that it does look like Ferrari are putting a long term plan in place to get back to the top and someone like Ross would be a major asset.

Brawn on his own won't make that much difference.

Newey?

It was a bit spooky wasn't it.

..............

Apparently Martin Brundle got a text from Ross saying he wasn't going to Ferrari.

Maurizio Arrivabene is being rumoured to be the replacement.

Brawn & Newey now there's a combo.

Not a good combo though, not for everyone else at least!

He struck me as a man to send in, do the cull, then let someone like Ross come in and rebuild.

Not going to Ferrari, but not saying he is not returning to F1.
McLaren can't say a driver line up for a week because many things to tie up (like contracts linked to different personnel all signing, after the pieces all fell into place this afternoon)
So Ross to McLaren as TP (which they don't have at the moment), Alonso to partner Button for 2015 and then Alonso & Lewis swap seats for 2016 ?

It was talked about on hear about Ross going to Mc this time last year, I can't remember that coming up then.
On the other hand it was said on another thread a couple of months ago that Ron's retirement/exit plan/settlement was being drawn up for later this year.
All total fun guesswork
