You claim "it never happens" when it comes to ignoring black flags well in the 1989 Portugese GP Nigel Mansell was black flagged and ignored it. He too claims he didn't see it and eventually ruined Senna's race by running into him.
Why didn't Senna let Mansell past if he knew he had been black flagged? Plus didn't Senna ignore the flags in qualifying at the next race and only get a fine.

Just a thought whilst thinking of a driver for the most unworthy winner thread.

Jody Scheckter in 79. Out shone that season by Jones, Arnoux, Laffite and Villeneuve Scheckter's ability to bring the car home got him the WDC.

Jones won nearly every single race of the second half of the season but poor reliability in the early half cost him.

With half a season to go Ferrari made Jody #1. Gilles had an iffy start to the campaign, Jody was solid. Gilles could have been WDC if he wanted to.

IIRC Gilles agreed to stay #2 on the assurance he would get the #1 spot after Scheckter. So he was very miffed in 1982 when HIS #2 (Pironi) wouldn't play the game, and it all came to a head at the Belgian GP...

Being f1 buffs we know more of the ins and outs of results in a season that led to a championship for someone where everything just clicked.
Sadly, reading the last however many pages, you're wrong.

Jody Scheckter said he was worried about winning the 1979 Italian GP because Gilles was right behind him and Gilles could have reneged on team orders and win for himself but he didn't.
