Congratulations to a worthy champion!
To anyone who thinks that he's not (one of) the best driver(s) on the grid, has anyone else ever came in to the sport and nearly won the championship in their debut season? He was quick enough in 2007 for the World Champion Alonso to spit the dummy.

Yup, can't help but wish Lewis well for this one. He had the best car by miles, but Rosberg is obviously no pushover. On his day he's one of if not the most entertaining drivers to watch. I think his previous flaw has been his mental stability, I guess not unlike Andy Murray. Hopefully he's got his head thoroughly sorted now with his new team and second WDC.
I still find his GP2 Istanbull race amazing.

No one on Pistonheads disputes he's one of the best drivers on the grid. They hate the fact that he wears an earring. AndrewD said:

The fuddy duddys forget (or probably don't know enough to know) that the icons we revere like hunt, stewart etc were regarded as disrespectful annoying little upstart flash bds by the then-fuddy duddys in their day...
But what's weirder is that most of the people who deride Hamilton for wearing an earring or subliminally assuming a slight American accent are probably younger people in their 30s or early 40s who quite happily listen to Diddly-puff-Boo rapping and scratching without batting an eyelid or drink down the pub or coffee bar with people wearing earrings everyday. andyps said:

Jacques Villeneuve did the same in 1996.- Both jumped into competitive cars against established F1 stars who probably expected, but didn't receive, absolute #1 status against the rookie teammate.
- Both went into the final race of their first season with a mathematical chance of becoming champion, but ultimately finished runner up.
- Both of their teammates left at the end of the first year to join much weaker teams, leaving them to dominate their new teammate.
- Both had to fight off a strong Ferrari challenge in the final race of season two to become WDC.
- Neither team, Williams or McLaren, have won a world title since.

Good to see!and all this inspite of Lewis' 'earings';'americanised accent'; humble stevenage unbringing..yada, yada, yada... Jeez get a grip for FFS! i find it incredibly tragic that trolls even dare deride someone who is arguably a sport superstar. there is free speech; there is even being contentious. but some of the stuff still being said is just retardedness. i honestly thought this thread would escape the nonsense. how naive of me!
as mentioned before read the thread title! so those who don't like it [the title] you know what you can do!
btw Nicole; 'oh i like the beard...you'd fit in well here' how cringe worthy!
I saw the same behaviour with Joss Stone. Nothing to do with the music, the silliness was purely because she 'Americanized'.
The funny thing is American spoken English is very dominant and will corrupt any accent given a chance (German maybe being an exception). Americans abroad though always sound American. The lifestyle too is much the same, dominant.
