I would agree with that. He does have a habit of making verbal diarrhea.

Remember when he tried mind games claiming Nico was the rich boy brought up in Monaco whereas he claimed he was the poor boy living in a council estate in Stevenage
but that's true!

Well Lewis is coming across as a regular decent chap on This Morning. smile
This sums up why I don't like Hamilton, awesome driver yes. He then does an interview like this where he comes across as the down to earth guy living the dream like he did when he first came into F1 then up recently he'd go back into his American mode and come across as a bit of an arse.

Maybe binning off his management company will help with the being more likeable more of the time part again.

Awaiting the huge amount of flack for this comment, but I'm sure someone will get what I mean.

Just curious, what is it about this "American mode" that makes him a bit of an rse [and yet presumably at the same time, making all other Americans not an rse]? Or are you just saying you don't like Americans for being who they want to be in their own country?

I mean when he jumps into his bizarre accented management led mode, usually after spending time in the states with his Mrs...

But if you want to try and claim that I must have all yanks then you have that little moment of joy in your mind.

Oh right. I haven't noticed. Maybe if he spends a lot of time in the US, surely it would only be natural for him to pick up a bit of an accent? Mansell picked up quite a few US vocal mannerisms and sayings during his time in Indycar. I never though of him as an rse for that.

not quite a council house, but a £400k semi in Stevenage isn't quite up there with a £5-6m pad in Monaco is it?

Perry only mentions Lewis being stupid as he's emotionally ill-equipped to go into a war of words ...which is fair enough, but as to backgrounds making a difference, maybe Lewis is actually right & he is hungrier? after all he has just won

Really good year by Lewis, it's clear he polarizes opinion but you'd have to be very blinkered to not recognise his driving and his improved conduct this year. He has slipped once or twice, I think the biggest error was to start the 'break Nico mentally' discussion. But beyond that he's been excellent and the hyper intelligent Nico has certainly made a much bigger arse of himself in terms of trying to make clever comments that back fire.

The last 2 months in particular were brilliant for Leiws. Lots of talk about him not being stable enough to take the pressure but he did and in some style.

Hungry means different things to different people.

Senna had a well off upbringing and was just as hungry.

LH has been trying to play the underdog tag but not effectively. Personally I don't think LH's background makes him more hungry than Nico afteralq Nico was just as hungry to prove a point at Spa.

He likes being in America. Spends quite a bit of time in Colorado and does his training (especially winter) there.

On NASCAR topics I'm just as guilty as Lewis and use American-isms.

His accent is a bizarre reason not to like Lewis. He has shown himself to be one of the most exciting drivers on the grid, and high up on the grid as well. He won 11 races in a season despite a number of non-finishes and non starts so to speak, and against a driver whose talents are generally acknowledged. His overtakes have been thrilling.

I could understand someone resenting him for his actions when publishing Button's data but that is hardly ever mentioned.

I get the feeling with some people that if his accent was OK, then it would have been his hair, or the way he walked or held his head.

He's a racing driver who thrills. How can you not appreciate him? How can you not not be grateful for livening up our weekends.

Jeez, the bloke left 'my' team and yet I still think the bloke is one of the most exciting talents on the grid.

Who gives a rat's fundament about how he talks.

Agree that Hamilton in 'American mode' is probably the biggest thing I hate about him.

It's not necessary.

His attitude and comments over the years has not made him likable for me. However, before being shot to pieces, I thought he drove very well this year and makes some fantastic moves. I did end up willing him on the nico fight.

Good car this year, but he still did the business and beat his team mate to earn a good title.

He came across very well at the final race, seemingly being down to earth Hamilton with no trace of American mode. He needs to keep that up..

Well said Derek, I don't really care what he is like out of the car, he is a great and exciting driver. The fact he is prepared to demonstrate his emotions and personality at times is no bad thing in my view.

It's probably the lowest facet of humanity (and lets face it, there are many) that some people can still find an introverted subjective reason to hate someone, even when there is no tangible reason, just because they are not their chosen favourite. The scary thing is, they can openly construe it to be just.

The deepest, darkest, longest running "hates" in humanity all work at this same level, IMO.

Same could be said of Mansell but that doesn't stop the likes of Nigel Roebuck slate the guy at every opportunity.

Have you not heard them this year? Because he's generally conducted himself very well (some minor errors but better than the polished and highly intelligent Nico)....

His hair, his ear ring, his gold chain, his girlfriend, his family, his press shots.......

They'll find a reason to hate him and they will look increasingly desperate if he continues to perform as well as he has this year and behave as well as he has this year.

I don't get why people who don't like him post on threads like this. They obviously can't read the title, these freakish types who are in a negative orbit of LH. Obsessing over him like they're experts on hair and jewellery fashions...

Presumably they would all have wked themselves into a coma if Rosberg had won the WDC.

Not to mention all of the experts on travelling the world, doing corporate stuff and interviews constantly, then living in the US during the downtime with an american, celebrity lifestyle etc. There's no way that would rub off on Danielsan. When he's in the media spotlight, it's only stiff upper lip and Queen's English wink

Anyway well done to LH, but try to make a few more mistakes next year for the tragic types to celebrate, or else they may well mentally implode and go crazy with a carving knife in a shopping centre (assuming they leave the house).
