5th, 6th or 7th, if the engine is good.

"Multi car pile up" brings reminders of Crashgate ....
I bet him and Flavio are planning it already...
The driver announcement delay is because Alonso is demanding Piquet as his teammate.

I went with 6th. Reason being they came 5th this year with the best engine on the grid.

They got a load of points in the first race of the year (2&3) that they won't do next year.

They just about beat Force India.

Next year it's an unraced engine when all the teams have got that 1 year under their belt.
When you put it like that..... Shareholders will not be happy if the seasons a crock. If they have a few seasons of mediocre results, could we see the managed decline, a la williams? yes I know williams are having a resurgence, but they won't ever regularly win races and championships, something they and mclaren used to do regularly, mclaren more so in recent memory. Last-ish chance saloon for mclaren, an exclusive engibe deal means time to deliver.

And look how well they did in 2014 with the Mercedes engine in the back of their car, they had the best engine available and could still only manage 5th.

Gone for 4th. Reckon they might beat one of Williams or Ferrari next time. Good chance Williams aren't so good next year a la Lotus in 2014 and Ferrari seem to be in as much of a mess as McLaren.

Vettel not as good as Alonso in a bad car IMO and has run away from Red Bull as he knows he can't beat Ricciardo so might as well take the chance of having a better car now that Newey and Prodromou (to McLaren which should hopefully improve their aero next yr) have left.

Not as confident as others in a Lotus revival. Engine wasn't the main problem in the end. Car was terrible too as most of their key technical team left - gap to Red Bull considerably more than 2013. Also Maldonado is terrible and accident prone and Grosjean is accident prone too.

But they've still got Maldonado...

I wonder if the fuel could come in to play considering McLaren have ran a different fuel this season to the other Mercedes powered teams, and Honda have had time to develop their power unit. Sure there's going to be teething problems, but look at the start Renault had and Red Bull still managed 2nd in the WCC this year.

Look at it this way, this season Red Bull did really well with the worst engine available, whereas McLaren did really badly with the best engine.

What makes you think McLaren will do better next year, even if Honda come up with a good engine? All they could manage with the best engine in 2014 was 5th, and that barely.

Well, nobody would expect a championship with a new engine and establishing the working relationship...not the same people as previously ,evidently. Also, the feedback from the driver in development of the new platform will have to be incorporated during testing. All-new combo, but if its a good package they could do OK. I will go with 4th also.

Whilst they've not had a great two seasons, this is a team who've finished 2nd four times in the last 10 years. They've made some bad strategy calls sometimes over the years but McLaren have a history of building fast and competitive cars. Sure, the success of the 80s isn't suddenly going to reappear, but I'm not counting them out altogether when they have one of the top drivers on the grid back next. It's arguably been their two worst seasons in the past 30+ years in terms of finishing position, however, they've bounced back from being 5th before and you'd be a fool to think that McLaren are done.

In Ron's own words: "second is first of the losers" (or words to that effect as I recall)

Sad to say I've put 5th. Poor start building to a strong but ultimately too late end of season performance

I can't believe it but I've voted 7th! I can't see them beating Mercedes, Williams, Ferrari, RedBull or Lotus, plus either Sauber or Force India will beat them on reliability grounds.

Originally I said 5th because I thought Lotus would be appalling again. I think probably sixth (or worse) now though.

6th, can see them not scoring a point in the fist 3/4 races and as the updates come they will start challenging for points but by then Merc / williams / Ferrari /Red Bull will be well out with toro rosso in 5th.

Sauber will run out of money as will Force India and will be overtaken by Mclaren somewhere around Monza.

Marrussia will enjoy another fruitless season if they even race

You didn't mention Lotus, who will also be having money problems. Already are.

Marussia didn't have a fruitless season last year.
