Streaming of testing live - if only

Wouldn't it be great if the testing was streamed live via the internet. I know that Bernie doesn't understand all this interweb stuff but if you were trying to promote interest in something as he should be with F1 live streaming would be great to get attention. It wouldn't cost much to put a few cameras around the circuit, sponsorship would probably easily cover it, and it would be giving something back to fans. Broadcasters who have the rights to show F1 would be able to add commentary if they wanted but the feed would only need the sound of the action.

But we know that anyway, and the photos of anything like that get spread through all the existing media anyway so they would be no worse off. IIRC Sky did a summary/roundup show last year which sounds like the best way to do it - 30-60 minutes of news and updates etc rather than 8+ hours of little action and commentators getting ever more desperate to find something to talk about.

I mean, as sky F1 are showing repeated filler right now why not? Doesn't have to be big budget- few cameras, cutting to a bit of ted now and then bothering people trying to do their jobs, few pre-rec interviews and featurettes to fill gaps.

I'm not saying I'd sit transfixed to the screen for 8 hours, or that I'd be as keen in-season, but as it's been a few months since the last fix, to have something live and happening on in the background while I browse the net and share expert analysis on the teams various failings with like minded PH'ders it should work.

That was my thought, it doesn't need commentary and I would only dip in and out of it. The text streams as we already have says what is going on but without too much difficulty FOM (or whoever) could give fans something to see whilst there is action, building up anticipation for the coming season.I mean, as sky F1 are showing repeated filler right now why not? So who is going to provide all the cameras, crews, editing suite etc?

Watching the Wednesday qually from Le Mans was pretty dull last year (and that was with 50 cars actually doing things) as the only cameras were those around the pit area, with a few CCTV type ones out on the rest of the circuit. As the whole race was in HD the cameras were only going to be installed on the Saturday morning.
