"Fernando Alonso wasn't feeling well before his crash. The Spaniard was ill and that's why he lost control over his car, reports TV3."

According to McLaren the G-Force alarm on the car was triggered, which is why Alonso has gone to hospital.
Speculation card: the lack of damage sounds a bit worrying.

The spectacular shunts are normally fine because the carnage and debris means the chassis/components absorbed and dissipated the impact and G loads.

Ted Kravitz reporting some speculation he may have "fainted" in the car.

Judging by the single huge skid mark from before the apex to the outside of the track, I'd suggest we can't rule out the possibility of some sort of braking or suspension system failure. Of course with a bit of a bang on the head and a bit of a shock, Alonso can't necessarily be expected to be able to describe this in detail trackside.

Stills of the crash on Marca, looks innocuous.

So he's gone from the outside of turn 3 to the inside without spinning? Steering failure?

Looks more like he tried to pull off the track out of the way, makes sense if it was an illness/dizzyness.

During Ted's Notebook, yesterday I believe, at the Ferrari press conference what was the deal with that reporter (?) hounding Arrivabene? I think Kravitz said her name is Karen Stone - who the heck is that?

Not sure how they set those G loading sensors as it seems so innocuous now. Must have been going at quite speed to 'brush' the wall.

Something very odd with the Alonso crash IMO and there seems to be some key information missing as to what caused it. According to Vettel who was behind it was a slow speed accident as he drifted off the track and it looks like he just brushed the wall. Car fairly undamaged bar the front wing. So what caused him to drive off and why did he need to be airlifted out?

IIRC the G-sensors are triggered at 28G(?). The car does not appear to have sustained that level of damage unless it's gone airborne and slammed down onto a kerb.

Very strange. Just hope everything is okay long-term with his health.

Well there were some reports (but nothing official) that he may have lost consciousness/fainted behind the wheel.

At 3g they'd trigger every time the car went around a high-speed corner or the driver hit the brakes. hehe

Rosberg's lap on the medium tyres is certainly an ominous warning to the rest.

Very impressive.
