Alonso airlifted to hospital

Maybe the sheets were simply to give the bloke some dignity while he was laid out on a stretcher?
He had concussion; did it occur to anyone that maybe, just maybe, due to the recent high profile head injuries sustained by Schumacher and Bianchi, Alonso's medical team don't want to take unecessary chances?
Each conflicting story appears to have come from a different source, so why is that a surprise?
Fair points (my reply was an objective response to your open question rather than my personal conjecture). I think the inconsistency in reporting that you refer to is adding to the spurious speculation. On these pictures only one skid mark is seen....so what else is attached to the rear wheels sapart from the brakes?
Maybe it was half spun sideways pointing at the wall, so the rears was skidding in line with each other before half spinning back? Like the Maldonado video crash I posted on page 3Galileo said:

Hmmm I don't know, what about the diverging skid marks in that image though????Seems to me someone on the grassy knoll just out of shot to the right might have used some kind of death-ray apparatus to separate the wheels from the car, cause them to cross and then re-attach them to the car in the wrong positions. Alonso was probably knocked unconscious by a stray levatating wheel following these strange, as-yet unexplained trajectories?
Maybe Vettel was temporarily blinded by the ray? His recall of events clearly can't be trusted.

One thing I do know is that the wind excuse is pure BS. I was 10km away and never noticed any gusting wind at all yesterday. The circuit is buried in the hill and is largely sheltered anyway. Funny how Vettel and others who were not going "strangely slowly" did not veer off the circuit or report any difficulties whatsoever.
I'm going to pick you up on this. I was about 250 metres away from from where he crashed and I can tell you that the wind was horrendous yesterday morning, gusting all over the place and changing direction constantly ('helicopter wind', as it's known). The drivers were having a lot of trouble with the wind, both in terms of strength and direction, all morning. The times from the morning were so slow because of this. Please don't pretend to make such statements of certainty from 10km away.

So he was given the all clear, but is now going to spend a third night in hospital under observation.
There is definitely more to this IMO. 3 days in hospital for concussion...
Yeah, right. There is definitely more to this IMO. 3 days in hospital for concussion...

I am going to guess perhaps his HANS was not done up correctly or perhaps his belts failed or came undone?
I don't think the cause of concussion is in question - a sharp lateral G will do it, HANS or no HANS - it doesn't stop the brain moving in the skull and causing short term disruption. If there is a primary cause of the accident - we don't know yet though McLaren seem to be pretty strong in their view.

I am not saying concussion cannot be serious, it can be very serious. But you dont need to take up a hospital bed to monitor it, especially when the hospital have issued a statement saying he is fine.
Well last night he was OK but staying in to let the sedatives clear from his system, tonight?Something appears a bit strange.

That is what I thought I read. However looking back at news headlines, it would appear the only source for the all clear comment is McLaren. Why would they say that, but the hospital want to keep him in?
I have it in good authority that Alonso is refusing to leave hospital because his car is such a dog.
