Anybody know what the rationale is for mechanics wearing open face helmets in the pits? I thought helmets were for fire protection.
Probably the same rationale that had the FIA/MSA make everyone switch to fire resistant helmet linings but let you wear open face helmets...hehe
Does seem weird, added to the fact that the wearing of them seems to be optional, judging by this quali session at any rate.
Since refueling stops were banned there's been a bit more freedom

Doesnt look all that wet to be fair, manageable surely.
I don't want to continually bang on about the past of years gone by but lets be honest, it has become a little pathetic with the commentators attempting to justify why it's too dangerous...

I expect it's because his team know more about his abilities than you do.

What are the full wets for these days? They don't let the cars out on track until the conditions are dry enough for inters.

However, we must find some gimmicks to "improve the show". Meanwhile, I'm watching a road car cruise around a circuit by itself.

What does an F1 car and Disprin have in common? Both disappear when you add water... smile

^this.
might as well have just move the session forward and hour rather than have the safety car cruising around for 30 mins to dry the track up.

Indeed, can't understand why quali' is at 5pm local and the race at 3pm local - most F1 fans can get up at 7am UK and we're the most westerly on European time. Odd...

As per usual when we have a situation like this, too wet to race but inters are quickest?!
