Nico started it but Lewis slowed down on his second lap too; Seb unlucky not to nick pole while they were playing silly buggers.
Exactly. He nobbled lewis best lap, couldn't get pole himself and to fluff at petronas home race would have been catastrophic. Not the weekend for a huff!
Great effort from Verstappen Junior too, that kid is 17 and his first wet session in an midfield F1 car and ends up 6th, gets a thumbs up from me.
I think Rosberg slowed to be able to follow Lewis and see what lines he was using, which is why Lewis dropped back.
The best bit abut that was Hamilton's bluff in the press conference - when asked about catching Nico on that lap Lewis just blanked him "I don't remember, so obviously not". In other words "whatever you do doesn't affect me in any way...". Thats a pretty strong message to Nico..

Nice to see the mouthbreathers out in force here. You all love it really...it's called entertainment.
I'm loving the gamesmanship shown by Rosberg. It is sad as it tells you how low on confidence he is..
Nice quali, as Vettel has managed to split the Mercs, if he can get a good start and hold the Mercs back during the first stint, it will be very very exciting indeed. OTOH, if Hamilton manages to scamper off with Rosberg held off by Vettel, then he will really rue the decisions he made today.
Shocker for Kimi though, I really hoped he'll get to the top ten shoot out, would've been even more exciting for the race. In any case, looking forward to tomorrow!

maybe needs it's own thread- but is the ban on driver coaching ruinous for rosberg?
It hurting him I think. He can't get the knowledge about Where Lewis is faster until he's back in the garage. I think Lewis is playing a clever game of not showing his hand until it's too late for Rosberg to react. I honestly think Rosberg slowed to try and watch Lewis and Lewis just reacted by backing off so he didn't give Rosberg anything. I'd even go so far as saying he'd let pole go to ensure Rosberg can't see what he's doing. Rosberg 's whole demeaner is different this year. He looks almost baffled by Lewis's ability to just deliver more pace, but only when he needs it.

Very well put. It's telling that he was asking the garage about what lines to take. I'd say he has the demeanor of a beaten man already. The lap that LH was on when he was blocked was 1/10th up in the first sector. No wonder NR wanted to stop him.
It is good to see the Merc's advantage is not quite so significant this season.
NR really needs to sort himself out. He's already upset the team, and blocking the champion and team leader on his fastest lap is not the way to endear your self to them.
Wolff has a problem. It will be fun watching how he gets over it.
