the most damning thing for me today was not that rosberg (might have) blocked hamilton, it was that he felt the need to get on the radio and ask for advice on... wait for it... what the racing line was. Not engine modes, diff settings, brake balance, braking points... but the racing line. the most fundamental aspect of driving a car around a track. the thing you have to get right before you work on where you accelerate, where you brake, everything else. it's quite frankly embarrassing.
Is it worse than Hamilton failing to manage his first lap in P2 because there were a couple of cars in front of him and then blaming the team? I don't think so, especially as Rosberg was in just about the same situation and managed fastest lap of the session. Anyway, none of these things matter much in truth. There's a long season ahead.

come again?Lewis wanted to get out earlier, but the car did not want to fire up.
hardly his fault is it?

Racing lines are actually a lot more complex than you think. But what he was asking was more related to tyre temperatures IMO.REALIST123 said:

I accept my post is dubious, I was only half serious but, honestly, the fanboy inspired wishful analysis here is what some should be embarrassed about.

What? You think the subjective, ill informed claptrap that pervades this thread, not to say forum, has some merit?

That is a mighty high horse for someone who posted made up balls, got called on it, admitted it and is now in a wee huff.I accept my post is dubious, I was only half serious but, honestly, the fanboy inspired wishful analysis here is what some should be embarrassed about.

Great username Realist. On a serious note, can't see the NR choice of sweatband catching on... Laughed to myself at thought of Nico's home life..
"Nico, where the hells my last pantyliner gone? I do wish you would buy your own!"
That quali session was more entertaining than the opening Australian GP, great stuff!
Lol at Rosberg when he blocked Lewis and ended up in his spray/turbulence for his final lap. I was punching the air when Vettel popped up in second! Nico knows he's beaten on track, his only option is to play these games.
I kind of feel sorry for the guy TBH. Gets a seat in a growing team, beats his multi world champion teammate three years in a row , ends up in a dominant car for 2014 but also ends up being partnered with the quickest driver in F1.

Here's Brundle and Lewis talking through the lap. Really interesting insight.

I'm wondering whether they were both supposed to be on a slow-down lap, and holding station, but Lewis pushed on to get track position. Merc require both drivers to use the same strategy, iirc? I can't really see why else Nico would bring it up at the press conference.
Lewis set a purple S1, it was very much a hot lap.Gaz. said:

He was asking if LH was using wet or dry lines.London424 said:
