Haven't watched the race yet however I cannot imagine Fred's mood was lightened by seeing 'his' Ferrari take the flag.

Oh how the clown must be rueing the day he started to chase McLaren for a seat.

I'm not a fan of the finger however I did smile when I saw the result even if he did beat Lewis into second place.

+1. Lets hope it becomes a battle royale between the Mercedes and Ferrari.

Not so sure about that.

Fp2 they were doing some impressive long runs...
Same in Oz FP and final winter tests - Ferrari had strong long run pace but corrected by true race pace in Oz.

Disappointed by Williams. It seems they're in stasis and not made any progress from last year.

Good result though smile

Best result possible for Mercedes!

They have learnt [wrongly] that there was always "something else" available to rectify the situation, well guess what, Ferrari kicked their arsches today and they will have to get their eye firmly back on ALL the balls if they want to win the championshio this year...

Quite a race. Battles all over the show.
Really? Looks like a load of big gaps to me with only a handful finishing on same lap.

Is it just me or is Kimi getting even worse in these post race interviews? I get that he doesn't like the media and has never been talkative, but he seems to be taking the piss these days. The guy is supposedly on $18 million a year, it would be nice if he give something back to his fans in these interviews.
Hamilton isn't always the most talkative person in the after race interviews. He can be quite abrupt with his answers. To be fair to him, some of the questions are stupid.

As for Kimi being on £18m per year. not sure I really see the value there. When was the last time he won a race.

Another poor race for Mclaren. Hopefully they will actually manage to finish the next race.

Yeah, well if you showed the chart of the last lap from Le Mans you'd believe they all trundled round at 45mph nose to tail and side by side. hehe

Very pleased after Ferrari has answered my prayers. biggrin If only I had some money on this!

Now, I think some pace advantage enjoyed by Ferrari could've been due to the high track temps, so it will be interesting to see how well they fare in the cooler races. And of course, a huge development race is now on too and the gap between the Merc and Ferrari could ebb and flow throughout the season. This could turn out to be a good season after all.
Ferrari have definitely closed the gap to Mercedes and I would say are the only genuine challengers to them.
But I'm not sure how much you can extrapolate today's race across the rest of the season. Track temperatures were extreme today and while Ferrari handled them much better it's unlikely that similar temperatures will be seen again this season (maybe Hungary). In Australia, Hamilton finished 34 seconds in front of Vettel, in Sepang, Vettel finished 8 seconds in front of Hamilton, the true respective pace will be somewhere between the two.
I suspect Merc will be on top at the majority of races but with Ferrari relatively close and ready to pounce on the slightest slip up (unreliability, pit stop cock ups or wrong strategy), certainly closer than Red bull were last year.

Two questions, if anyone can help:

After the pitstop, LH asks: Am I all right?

The team replied that they would look at the video.

Any idea what he was talking about.

And secondly, a more calculation problem:

Everyone qualifies Kimi's drive by saying that he was lucky with the pace car. However, the pitstop cost I can see being neutralised by the fact that everyone else (nearly) also stopped straight afterwards, due to the pace car.

But if the drivers are limited to a delta time, then wouldn't he be as well? So his lap at crawling speed with the duff tyre must have cost him masses of time.

So does the modifier of 'lucky' really apply?

Yes, that is the only problem. I think it was quite a unique situation today with the very extreme heat, well timed safety car and a combination of complacency followed by panic from Mercedes.

Ultimately Mercedes still have a 1 lap pace advantage that is the thick end of 1 second, it is just because of all the above circumstances they were not able to show it today.

I would be surprised if Ferrari managed to win more than 3 or 4 races this year.

Hardly lucky to be down in last place and still miles behind the safety car snake when the race restarted. Not to mention the damaged floor on his car and all the time he would have lost having to pass so many cars.

I dare say without the puncture and damaged car he may well have stolen the last podium spot off Nico today... from 11th on the grid.

Nico looks almost defeated already and Merc made major strategy blunders today.

Enjoyed that ! looks like game on but we'll see if ferrari can keep the pace during cooler races?
Nico looked a great number 2 all weekend, no idea what's up with him ?
Lewis did an good job, not spectacular just good.
Seb was the old Seb again a LOT better than last year and by a lot i meen a fooking lot, i honestly think he was driving to get out of RB last year, more so seeing as DR isn't as far in front of this years teem mate.
TBH i think Kimi did the beat race of the day, last on lap 2 (not just last but a good chunk of time behind cos of following the Manor car) to finish 4th, a fine fine drive.
Williams are looking 3rd or 4th best rather than the 2nd they looked last year, i thinl last year the other teams dropped the ball and maed them look better than they actually are? we'll see i guess.
