Aside from being a Hamilton fan I have to agree with Bernie that Hamilton is doing a great job marketing both himself and F1.

I think he is referring to Hamilton lying to the stewards to gain an unfair advantage.
As a rookie, sent there to say that by his team....The backdrop, the most electrifying rookie ever, stuffed the overhyped Alonso into the first corner in his first ever race. The FIA under Spanky Moseley penalising him and McLaren for the most insane nonsense ever and his supposed team mate almost forcing him off East Rouge, then backing him into Raikkonen's clutches and, after he did not continue the plan helping him back, blatantly blocking him in the pits, blackmailing the team over his own use of stolen information, etc. etc.
Since then, the victim of several deliberate incidents where other drivers crashed into him to save their own face while he passed them, blatant cheating from Rosberg, and more... To claim that Lewis is a cheat just lays bare your own prejudices and, or, ignorance.
For Bernie, Hamilton is the only hint of a silver lining in the dark clouds that weigh heavily over F1 at the moment, and all because of his marketability rather than his outstanding skill behind the wheel.
It is all of Ecclestone's own making too, which is somewhat poetic. More than ever the sport needs inward investment and forward thinking to compete on the global stage. Instead it's a corporate operation masquerading as a sport, beset by short term profiteering.

Arguably he is far less of a Chav than James Hunt who is hero worshipped around here with no pointing out of his negative traits.....
Hunt..a chav?? I must look up the meaning of the word again.As for hamilton, something clicked in him last year, around mid season when him and lil let were having their spat; he seemed to react by settling down and growing mentally stronger and just move up a gear. He's probably been, since arriving to upstage alonso, the most naturally gifted driver in terms of raw speed on the circuit, but he's also been a bit of a flawed character and missed many opportunities. Today I'd say he's at his peak; he's the complete package.
I have a feeling he'll want to quit while he's at the top too, go out leaving everyone wanting more.

I like Lewis as a racing driver, but I've recently debated unfollowing him from Twitter. Pictures of him posing with gold chains and shoes with no socks on and his shout outs to his rapper hommies doesn't really promote F1, more him testing the waters of a future music career. On track brilliant, off track Nicole ruined him.
This. I think Hamilton is a chief cock as a person, but he is a decent driver.Spiritual_Beggar said:
Different times. We live in a media dominated world, so a lot easier to market yourself and the sport now than it was in the past. But if I was to choose who championed the sport and grabbed the most attention for F1...its pretty hard to look past;
Ayrton Senna
i think you are right, but if we could choose now any driver since Senna for a one on one race I'd like it to be Hamilton Ayrton Senna

I've never met him but if you say so... In the world of football, not real Ronaldo and Ferguson are two that immediately come to mind.
