Oh come on...he will be at Merc for the next few years. Signing a multi million pound contract takes a bit more than a couple of days.
It's being going on for months.

I wonder if there is a mega offer lurking in the wings from someone? Something ground breaking that is causing him to rethink.
I think he'd prefer the championships to mega offer though. So I can see the reason for a delay (if not his inexperience at contracts and so wanting to make sure everything is ok) would be seeing how the other teams improve. If Ferrari (or McLaren somehow) improved enough to make him think it would be better to jump ship then he would go. Lets assume he gets the WDC this season which seems (so far) quite likely. 3 in total, and he thinks he is a better driver than Vettel so will want to get at least 4 too, so can't see him moving from Mercedes unless Ferrari show signs of passing them this season.

He only started talking a couple months back. He's doing the negotiations himself, it's a big money deal. Both parties have said a deal will be done but the lawyers are involved.

He's unlikely to be focusing too much on contracts during race weekends too. No rush really is there

I do too. I admire his approach - to race his teammates on level terms. I can't see him going to Ferrari because they have a very different attitude and, as mentioned, Vettel has probably got #1 status in his contract. It seems to me that his best short term chance of more WDC is with Merc.

As you say. I believe it as well.

Mind you, LH reckoned he didn't lay mind-games, but he's slapped Vettel, Alonso and Rosberg a bit with that statement.

We believe what we want to believe. Doesn't make it true or relevant.

I know it is artificial as part of the "show" but of all the recent changes, I think the titanium skid blocks do have a place... if it gets us more images like this...

Blah blah life was better in the <insert mythical better time in F1>. wink

Believing or not believing is one thing, having it written down on a piece of paper is another, so yes, I will believe it.

If someone made an accusations against me like that in public, I would, so let us see if either Seb or Fernando come out and defend themselves... I wouldn't be holding my breath if I was you.

No unsafe release penalty for Ferrari for releasing Vettel with a right front wheel that wasn't attached properly, which contributed to the contact with Perez.

Alonso currently 1000/1 for the world championship, I'll take those odds.

I figure the McLaren doesn't look half bad and the engine is currently turned down. I'm happy to waste a fiver on a McLaren/Honda/Alonso combo.
This year?

I honestly can't see how that could possibly happen? Even if they got the car back to Europe managed a miraculous turn around and jumped to the top spot challenging Mercedes and Ferrari Hamilton and co would be hundreds of points ahead!

It should be 10,000/1.
Like I say, the McLaren is a bit of an unknown quantity ATM. The engine is currently not running up to speed (150bhp down?), Button and Alonso seem quite perky given their slow pace so far this season and I really can't dismiss the Alonso/McLaren/Honda combination.

Given the teams history, would you be that surprised to seem them running at the front very soon?

Long shot but thought it was worth a fiver.

I've just been on the official F1 website for the first time this year - what the fk have they done to it ?

The previous version was fairly easy to navigate and find stuff - this one has images jumping at you as you move the cursor around looking for stuff, and for the life of me I can't find something as simple as the time of the next practice session ( old version even had a countdown timer for the next session ) frown

It's a mess - like someone vomited a load of pages into their server with no thought of clarity

I agree, the F1 website is a complete mess. I think they want to start charging - they have no chance of that.

Simply don't believe the 150hp down stories, if that were the case, how do you explain their straight line performance in China when running alongside other cars?

Realistically, might be ~50-60hp, but nothing like 150.

Bigger issue looks like it's poor drivability/throttle progression, and to be blunt, chassis does not look stellar.

what was it kimi dodged a penalty for a couple of races ago?

It's beginning to feel like 10 years ago or something...

why are we having so many motogp/F1 doubles? I thought they worked the calendars around each other?
