Safety Car Finish
Discussion
I did make me laugh watching the marshals keep crashing that expensive nose cone into the pit wall until the teams mechanics ran in and saved the day .... and the nose cone !
I dont think anyone was going to change places in the last lap or 2 so it was just an early finish. Another 8 laps would have been a different story but they would have all run out of petrol before that happened.

Why does it take so long to recover a 700Kg car,
Because they are crap at it and use the wrong equipment, and the cars are only lifted from one point, the main roll over structure
If they had two lifting points and a suitable truck mounted crane, they could drive up to it and lift it in a fraction of the time
how many hours have you spent trackside in orange , red or green ? Because they are crap at it and use the wrong equipment, and the cars are only lifted from one point, the main roll over structure

I don't know why they don't just simply add however many laps done behind the safety car to the race distance unless it will surpass the 2hr limit, like they do in the BTCC. It's like what happened in the Indycars last week too.
Let's not hold up that atrocity at NOLA as an example of what F1 should be doing. That race was pathetic.Walford said:

Still need marshals on track to hook up
Twice as many hook ups to make
The car will still need stabilising and guiding onto flatbed
Truck mounted crane wouldn't be able to cope with gravel
FFS it 2015, things can be recovered from 2 mile's deep in the oceansTwice as many hook ups to make
The car will still need stabilising and guiding onto flatbed
Truck mounted crane wouldn't be able to cope with gravel

I'm really curious to know which technology from deep sea recovery you think could have been applied in China to prevent the race from finishing behind a safety car?
Flood the circuit?Walford said:

Flood the circuit? Now how about actually answering my question?
green, white, checkered like they do in nascar? if the race is set to finish under the safety car, wait til the track is clear and just add 2 laps at the end. surely that wouldnt affect the fuel too much and it leads to some fantastc finishes in nascar.
