Sigh, Raikkonen consistently disappoints. I wonder what his excuse will be this week.

Shame for JB but you can't really rely on other people to allow you to get in a double lap, even if the tyres get quicker on the second.

Great lap from Lewis, that's the race sorted.

So Nico faltered when it really mattered, was already on the back foot at a tenth down.

From the conversation on the radio it seems Lewis & engineer went the wrong way with pressures, correcting that and the track temp dropping down again seemed to benefit him and was to the detriment of Nico.

ETA: I absolutely love seeing the cars go through the chicanes around the swimming pool, always have. For all the whinging that goes on it still looks utterly epic to me to see a car change direction through there.

Excellent showing by LH. He needed it after the last race but it was a remarkable show.

Well done.

Was just about to say that. Great lap by Hamilton to take pole.

Not fully covered on the BBC.

Do they get to choose the half of the races they want or do Sky decide or F1 or?

Would have thought they'd have wanted to show this one?
BBC get first three picks
Sky get picks 4-6
Then they alternate with BBC going first, neither get to pick three consecutive races.
yes although the cancellation of the German Grand Prix means that the BBC do get to cover three consecutive races this year.

The commentary really is terrible at times

You could see there was smoke down in the first corner as they followed Raikonnen which was just after they had been watching Rosberg but neither of them picked up on it. Then when Hamilton came out of the tunnel they told us about Rosberg having a poor first sector. Then he says "I think Rosberg had a moment at the chicane coming out of the tunnel" ???

Great session...Monaco seems to be a bit of an equalizer.

Button was very disappointed. I felt a bit for him.

Nice driving by Lewis.

Nico was amateur houring it. How many times did he lock up into Ste Davote? And it wrecked Buttons chances.

Given the free and easy way the stewards hand out penalties for minor transgressions, surely there must be one for being such a consistently bad driver and ruining the session for others.

Can anyone find an onboard video of LH's lap? I missed that as I switched off straight after the flag.

Button will start 10th because Sainz got a penalty for missing the weighbridge and Grosjean had a gearbox change. Sainz will start from the pitlane.

Kimi has bemoaned another crap session, couldn't get heat in the tyres.

Danny Ric said he should have been third, but miscommunication over the radio meant he didn't set the switches correctly and didn't get a power increase that they expected.

Button was very unlucky not to get into the shootout.

Kimi, well his excuse today was tyres and traffic. Even as a massivefan it is virtually impossible to keep justifying these qualifying results. He must be about 22-2? in qualifying vs team mates since his return to Ferrari..... and it isn't just the result, often the time gap is the thick end of a second. Shocking for a man of his (dare I say former) ability. Quite sad to see a once great driver just fizzling out and turning up to collect his pension money basically.

What the hell happened to Williams today as well. Shocking how quickly they appear to be going backwards now.
