Not fully covered on the BBC.
Do they get to choose the half of the races they want or do Sky decide or F1 or?
Would have thought they'd have wanted to show this one?

Sky get picks 4-6
Then they alternate with BBC going first, neither get to pick three consecutive races.

The first year they did pick Monaco, but let's face it it's a fking boring race. In fact the race was near enough won today. Would much rather see the likes of Canada live
Seconded, I think the BBC made a smart move, there is not much lost in not watching the cars follow each other round for an hour and a half. pboyall said:

If it rains Monaco can be fun otherwise it's the dullest race of the season and should be removed from the calendar.hairyben said:
see on the one hand I'd agree with you, given the bbc are catering moreso for the less dedicated/drop-in fans they'd be better off showing the guaranteeably more exciting races but that said, monaco does have the cache- a flatmate of mine who obviously didn't really follow F1 said he "always makes sure to watch the british gp, monaco and the last race". But then I think he was just a poser/appeaser anyway.
We don't want him. If he's under 60, nor does Ecclestone.I've got places to visit tomorrow. If it was any other race I was missing (although I intend to see the start) I'd be irritated. For this one, I'm pretty cool about it.

As for the flatmate, he was an actuary intern/apprentice/whatever at a upmarket accountancy outfit that got bought out by an evan more prestigious one and probably will, in the years to come, be buying daft expensive watches and suchlike rich people junk; I guess it's that long term view that the old man ecclestone can no longer appreciate.

I think Lewis will be on pole by 0.4 seconds over Nico. He won't want Nico having that hattrick or winning two on the bounce.
A tad optimistic! 0.1 or possibly 0.2 difference between the top 2..Lewis certainly seems to be on it from FP1, but then again the track needs to rubber in and will change significantly over the race weekend and the weather may just throw in a surprise..!

See I've dissed monanco in the past and been roasted for it, but while watching a Q lap onboard is awesome the racing nearly always has been paint-by-numbers, even for F1.

The on-board on LH's car showed why the drivers like it so much. It was thrilling. Is it true that NR is being investigated for deliberately blocking Button's qualifying lap?
Not mentioned on Ted qualifying notebook, nor on any site I can see. No documents on the FIA site ( ://www.fia.com/events/fia-formula-1-world-championship/season-2015/event-timing-information-4 ) to suggest he's been reported to the stewards. I don't think they'd leave something from qualifying to run overnight either, they generally work through any investigations as soon as they can.

It's a shame the bbc don't have live coverage of this event as the build up to the start is always really good, there is nothing else quite like this race.
The race is usually quite dull as no one can pass but I'd never get board of watching the onboard footage from here, even more so having walked round the track as its so much narrower with much steeper gradient changes than the TV cameras convey.

Kimi, well his excuse today was tyres and traffic. Even as a massivefan it is virtually impossible to keep justifying these qualifying results. He must be about 22-2? in qualifying vs team mates since his return to Ferrari..... and it isn't just the result, often the time gap is the thick end of a second. Shocking for a man of his (dare I say former) ability. Quite sad to see a once great driver just fizzling out and turning up to collect his pension money basically...
Never been a fan personally. I know he's considered cool on Pistonheads because he says st and eats ice cream but I've always thought he lucked in for his one world championship and is simply one of the better also rans rather than a top driver. Certainly no better or worse than say, Massa. RichB said:

I can agree his fan base built around 'coolness' is a bit odd. But I disagree about being a 'lucky' also ran. Arguably he was a bit fortunate to win the exact year he did, but he was also a bit unfortunate to lose out in 2003 and 2005 with Mclaren. He was (past tense) a top class driver and statistically his career is far better than the likes of Massa and Button. I mean he came back to F1 after a 2 year break and finished 3rd in 2012...... you don't get that close so often by luck.
But I think for many years people thought he was in the same class as Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel....but certainly not these last 2 years.

I've said it before but whatever... Monaco would not be missed from the F1 calendar in my eyes. It is all about a bunch of mega rich people having a jolly for the weekend. The 'circuit' does not lend itself to good racing...... and with the health and safety brigade in charge of the races these days there is bound to be a prolonged safety car if there is even the slightest sprinkle of rain. Yes but I wonder how much of that was cool image rather than racing ability. I recollect that at the time many were surprised that McLaren chose him over Heidfeld to replace Häkkinen. I realise that Heidfeld's career never reached the heights of Räikkönen's but I wonder what Heidfeld may have achieved if the decision had been the other way round? RichB said:

Any news on the weather spicing this up today?
I'll only be able to catch up with the highlights on iPlayer later, but it would be interesting to see if rain will play a part.
Just about to watch the Renault 3.5 race on BTsport and it's dry and sunny atm. Rain looks very unlikely but cool conditions I'll only be able to catch up with the highlights on iPlayer later, but it would be interesting to see if rain will play a part.

Crazy scary crash at St Devote.Red flag, owner of the house at St Devote could have opened their gates, as that Lotus sponsored car was almost over the barriers and through the gates.
