biggrin I'm coming from the tyre deg angle. Let's wait and see in the FPs if my theory holds up.

Rain would certainly spice things up. Other than that you know it'll be a HAM-ROS-VET combination at the top.

Who’s going? My girlfriend and I will be there. First time in Monaco, although I’ve been to a few other Europe races before. I can’t wait!!

It needs rain.

Monaco was exciting when the drivers pushed for most of the race (I remember being mesmerised by Alonso and Hamilton nose to tail with such rapid directional changes around the swimming pool section in 2007) . But recently, the tyre rules mean conservation mode to make it a one stop race. The sight of Rosberg leading but slowing the pack to sub-GP2 pace in 2013 was not my idea of excitement.

the other me said:
Day One Timesheet
1. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes, 1:24.374, 146 laps;
2. Marcus Ericsson, Sauber, 1:26.624, 98 laps;
This must be sickening for the other teams, although they are smiling through gritted teeth Mercedes are faster (considerably) seemingly more reliable and more economical and have two drivers who rarely make mistakes, not to mention their boss does a good impression of the Terminator...

I wonder if Mercedes gave up all development now whether Ferrari could catch them by the end of the season?

This just in: A rich blonde woman in a Maserati has just driven past the harbour, followed by a rich man in a Bentley.

Its over a week away, what are you expecting? Autosport is the same today, news about customer cars and the dwarf.

Tyre deg is low at Monaco. Don't forget Mercedes won in 2013 with their high-deg car. And unfortunately Monaco being Monaco it massively favours the leading car, the window that allows them to pit and come out in free air will open first for them so unless something happens with a pit stop or safety car.........

Forecast says 20% chance of rain for Sat and Sun, but 70% chance of rain on Thursday. That would ensure pretty quiet FP sessions.

True for Monaco but what about the next two races? It's highly likely that we will have a safety car (because Monaco) and throw in a few random factors like rain/Maldonado/untimely pitstops due to punctures I think we could have an interesting race. Merc with the superior downforce may get pole but I don't think anybody could predict with any certainty that the winner will be Merc.

After last year I don't think Rosberg will try anything 'creative' in qualifying as was alleged last year, and I think there will be a very determined Hamilton looking to get pole.

So my prediction is Hamilton for pole, or making a mistake, possibly binning it trying, I am hoping he gets pole.
