The Official 2015 Monaco Grand Prix thread **SPOILERS**
Discussion
Getting an awful feeling of de-ja-vu today. Second of the European races and the wheels start coming off the Hamilton bandwagon, again at Monaco as it did last season...and why is he always on the receiving end of these pit stop cock ups and other general weird events that rob him of victory...sure both Rosberg and Hamilton have had their engine failures, but when do the team ever screw up a pit call for Rosberg? Also, people say LH is a bad loser etc and sure some of that petulance remains, but he did have the good grace to congratulate the very lucky Rosberg, something you don't see with any conviction when the positions are reversed and LH has won.
I think he was just pausing to reflect on other Monaco wins p! ssed down the drain (at that very spot) by 2 of the greats Senna & Schumi & to perhaps use that reflection to rationalise his feelings about his day.
Hamilton has a very good sense of the history of the sport, and I think the place he stopped was not a coincidence, rather than just being a nice spot to admire the "sea view" (as Basil Fawlty would recommend) nor indeed because (like Senna) it was the shortest walk to his apartment.
I thought smacking the 3rd place sign was the absolute minimum I would have done, and truly believe ditching the Yank Bunny Boiler has been instrumental in him growing into the rounded personality that was always struggling to make itself known.
As an F1 fan (rather than a HAM fan/VET fan or whatever) I am happy that the result has breathed a bit more life into the championship, nonetheless, gutted for HAM, a travesty indeed

I'm impressed by how Lewis handled himself today. He took his time to clear his head, coming back in. He demonstrated that he shouldn't have been 3rd, by knocking over the sign, but harming no one. Then got out and shook Nico's hand and behaved with grace and dignity during the interviews, which must have been very difficult, adding that the team wins as well as loses together.
I'm not Lewis' biggest fan - I'm not a fan of the bling, the hairstyle, the rapper circle or the cringy comments about God, but I admire his racing spirit and now feel he has grown as a sportman. I doubt many other F1 drivers would have behaved so well. He's shot up in my estimation.

GreenArrow,
I think if I remember well , Rosberg breaking the post race protocol to congratulate HAM after he had won the championship.
I think any accusations of ROS being the "favourite son" / conspiracy theories etc are really just a little bit silly. . . . . we are (after all ) discussing the same team that unintentionally screwed with Rosbergs mind after the Spa debacle (by VERY publicly rebuking him & privately penalising him ) enough for him to totally foul up Monza.
People have short memories & don't really look at the big picture in these discussions.

Why does Horner pronounce it Rikki-ardo when Daniel pronounces it Rikkardo?

AND ............ hardly mentioned but Sportsman of the Day has to go to Ricciardo for giving back his place at the finish to Kvyat after he failed to catch Hamilton. An honourable gesture.
Surely it should have gone to Kvyat? Giving a place when you know the person can't overtake you, and in a team where they have known to prioritise one driver and therefore you're unlikely to get the place back if you let them pass (although this time it did happen). Well done both, but Kvyat was the one who gave up "more"/ started it IMO.Clevers said:
That was no balls up.......it was called in for the benefit of the sport overall.
Lewis's lead to Rosberg and Vettel has now been cut in half........F1 could not afford Hamilton to open up a big gap too early in the season. Everyone would switch to another channel.
Go on then, share the mechanics of your theory. Who exactly orchestrated this and when?Lewis's lead to Rosberg and Vettel has now been cut in half........F1 could not afford Hamilton to open up a big gap too early in the season. Everyone would switch to another channel.
He didn't clout the third place marker. He moved it into the first place slot.
He really has become his own man these last few months...
On a more serious note..
I was a bit shocked at Nikki Laudas gaunt appearance when interviewed after the race, looked jaundiced as well.
Mind you he was spitting feathers...

F1 as a whole stands to gain by keeping interest up. Even Mercedes must gain this way rather than easily winning the season and much less money coming in to F1.

I think he is pronouncing his name correctly Only just saw the highlights and now reading back through some of the comments on here. A bit surprised some of the aggression toward Mercedes team. Yes, they made a mistake but they do provide LH with the best car by a mile for most of the time. Lewis seems to get this, why not the people on here?
