Am I the only one that loves the low revs, low speed stuff out of the chicanes?

That Ferrari does sound great. I wouldn't discount the V8s though. Last year I watched a late 1980s Camel Lotus and a few other historic F1 cars doing a few demonstration laps at Brands Hatch. The Lotus, which was a Judd V8 powered car, sounded fabulous.

This is why I can't understand why people complain about the V6's, there hasn't been a nice exhaust note in F1 since the V10's died. And they were not as nice as the the V12's.

The V8's were just noise.

I disagree, at least when heard live, but either way "just noise" is fine by me compared with the "F1 lite" we're left with now.

I haven't heard the V6's yet live, but I heard all the others live, and the V8's were definitely the bottom of the pile for me by a long way, especially at the end when they were blowing the diffusers with them.

At the 2011 British GP the GP2 cars, the safety car and medical car sounded better than the F1 cars.

The end of the V10 era was a sad time for me. Nothing since has stirred the soul in the way that the screaming 3 litre v10's did. Even if the race was boring it was still wonderful to experience the sound and speed of the cars.

I must admit the V10 motors were my choice for noise, although I've only heard them and V8s live, I'm a bit young for the V12 engines. I'm yet to hear the V6T engines either.

That sound is glorious.

We need this back in F1.

This is why I love the Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone - the noise.

Utterly superb. You can stand at Copse & listen to the V10's as they scream around Silverstone.

Nothing but V10's.

Nothing but shear joy listening to the cars at full speed.

More please.
In the not so distant past days of V10 F1 cars, free admission to testing days at Silverstone had the place reverberating to the sound of these wonderful machines all day. Even the V8s that followed sounded terrific, but the V10s....

+1, you could hear them miles out from the circuit, it made the last few minutes of the pilgrimage seem like hours!

Didn't it just! No matter how early I set off, there was always track action I missed. Nobody would stride across that car park faster!

Saw the v6's at Silverstone last year. No need for ear plugs and my mate and I could carry on a conversation as the pack went past.

They had a v8 red bull going around before the race started - the contrast was marked; in fact everyone turned around to watch it go past.

Ferrari V12 from their 1995 F1 machine. That is absolutely glorious. Its a rich, multifaceted sound and as it comes toward you, you do feel like something almighty is bearing down in you.
That is stunning. F1's glory days are well and truly in the past.

That one car makes more noise than the whole of the 2015 grid.

A few years ago one of Ruben's V10 Ferrari's was at Knockhill, it was the first time I'd heard one up close and personal, it was glorious the speed the noise just...WOW.

That's the problem for the connoisseur wanting to hear a decent multi-cylinder F1 engine pushed to its limits again: The historic F1 races and Clienti type events consist of valuable cars mainly driven by random drivers. I noticed at a Donington event a few years ago than some could barely scoop thier guts into an F1 cockpit. One even had to be pretty much lifted out afterwards by two sycophants.

Sad.
