Im in the process of organising my Monza trip, i am staying down by Lake Garda.

Can anyone tell me what parking is like near the circuit? are there big dedicated car parking nearby or do i need to get a train in?

Cheers

The train is easy (I've done from Como) and free transfers from the train station. Also when you leave the Autodromo the police seem to prioritise the buses - v quick to station and then home for dinner!

However, last time I drove in (or rather was driven in by a friend) and parked in a RV/camping spot nearby (10 mins walk) and it was really easy, in and out. Bit more fun as we stopped for espresso, etc with the locals which added to the build up atmosphere.

If you want to meet the TV presenters, they walk from inside the circuit to the Sky unit and pass through one key gate (at least they did in past years). Most stop and chat with the British fans.

The official park and ride is dead easy and very safe/secure.

Getting the vehicle between the white lines is a challenge for some people. Derek clearly achieved this with ease. smile

Sorry to bring this back up, by chance i will be traveling back from a family get together in the south of italy past Monza or there abouts. I would love to go and watch the race on the sunday but will be in the a Ferrari so parking is a bit of a worry for me !

What's the general thoughts on it, leave it a the hotel OR dive it to the circuit and park it up somewhere hopefully official site.

Would like to hear peoples experiences on this

The parking I used (quoted above) - had some nice machinery in and was well managed. Not on a through road and a lot of people (by GP standards).

2 years ago we stayed in Merate, and the drive in/ out to parking from the north east side was quick with little traffic. Parking was good and well managed. We were there early so had no problems, but I think the closest ones fill up quickly.

For anyone else going, just found the official car parks on the Monza site http://www.monzanet.it/en/formula1/3059/f1%20minis...

I think i will go for the East Blue line car park at Brianteo Stadium which has 10K parking spaces! and pretty close shuttle to the circuit.

Parking at Monza is terrible, it's like holding a GP in Hyde park.

We camped in a school playground right next to the track which gave us parking too. Was perfect.

I went in 2008 and the scramble for the park n ride buses was ridiculous.

I walked all the way back to the car park, not sure where I was parked but it was outside the park itself.

At least by the time I got to the car there seemed to be little traffic unlike trying to exit Silverstone.
