"Not appropriate to disclose" whether it was driver error. The team said nothing was wrong with the car, and the HSE hasn't challenged that (if you read their statement carefully).

All certainly implies she simply didn't know how to control the car.

Publicity stunt gone tragically wrong.

Without having the time to read through the links you have posted I stand corrected about what ever the possible causes of what went on in the states. I just have a gut feeling that there are too many chances that buried within the software these days are the ingredients of the perfect storm. Just the uninformed opinion of a spanner monkey, not an engineer, so please treat it how you will.

As for comments about she did not know how to control the car. Is that not an indication that the drivers training for the specific car that they where about to drive was not thorough enough? Having spoken to a friend who is training to be an airline pilot once they have all of there qualifications PPL, CPL, IR, (Private Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, Instrument Ratings), plus all the rest that I don't know about there is still a £80,000 type rating for an AC like the Boeing 717. The point I am trying to make is that in the world of flying just because you can fly one AC does not mean that you can fly a second type and the training is very thorough. In the manly and gung-ho world of motorsport you don't want to be putting your hand up saying err how do I stop in this situation or I don't think I know enough to do this.

BTW, I thought it was aerodynamic testing that was being undertaken, not a publicity stunt?

Maybe at the end of all this the best thing is to let Maria rest in peace and make sure that the "trackside furniture" that any driver might hit is kept to a minimum.
