Lewis stopping on the slow down lap Monaco
Discussion

Lewis was concerned about tyres after having his pit call cancelled by the team so they changed their mind for a second time and brought him in. They obviously miscalculated those behind. Team cock up as far as I can tell they should have known car positions and made Lewis aware he would have to make do with the tyres he had.

So many modes to process. So much "stay positive".

PB: "Okay, so we are now staying out. Staying out. Staying out. Just confirm on the radio."
LH: "Guys, that's not good. These tyres have lost all their temperature. Everyone is going to be on options now."
PB: "Okay. Copy, copy. Box, box. Box, box."
Sounds like Lewis made the call.LH: "Guys, that's not good. These tyres have lost all their temperature. Everyone is going to be on options now."

Before you even responded I knew you were still going to blame Hamilton. I didn't think for one moment that you would possibly miss this opportunity to criticise him.
The team said at the time that the screwed up by getting the gap Lewis had to the following cars wrong. As they'd overestimated the gap, they probably didn't see an extra stop as being so harmful. They could have waved him through once they saw Ferarru weren't going to stop and he'd still have kept the lead.
The team say it was their mistake, why should Hamilton have to discuss it further?

6 of one and half a dozen of the other means 50/50; both Hamilton and the team made the wrong call, the team pulled him in, Hamilton gave them the information to do this.

If it was any other driver he would be lambasted for overruling the team and pitting 10 laps from the end at Monaco; and letting them take the blame for it.
Like I said, if the team thought it was a bad move, why didn't they wave him through. If it was any other driver, then I think you'd be agreeing with the majority of posters that it wz a team mistake and not insisting it was all the driver's fault.
It should have but didn't they gave Lewis's opinion a bit to much clout, they made a mistake it was the perfect storm what with going from a Virtual Safety Car to a Normal One, losing time behind the safety car plus losing time in the pit due to a Sauber coming in which probably cost him second place. Let's not forget we're talking about 2.9 seconds as the difference between 1st & 3rd at that point
