Will Lotus F1 survive?
Discussion
My understanding is that two companies have taken Lotus to court and they have been paid.Apparently companies that are owed money by Lotus cannot take action together only individually so they will have about 12 different court judgements in the next few months.
They must be around 80 million Euros in debt and unless they get the prize money for finishing fourth in the championship I think they will go under.
Renault may buy Lotus or possibly Torro Rosso depending if Red Bull carry on with Renault engines or use the AM badged Mercedes engines.

If Bottas goes to Ferrari......
Hulkenburg back to Williams
Maldonado and his large cheque go to Force India.
Bernie & Mercedes clear Lotus debts as long as they take a certain Mrs Wolff as their number two driver.
Remember where you heard it first.
But also remember how desperate Bernie is to shore up the ratings....

Whilst I would love to see a lady driver in F1, I really don't see Susie Wolff (no disrespect intended) as being the right person - I remember her from Formula Renault and whilst she was quick, her fellow driver for Comtec was a good deal quicker and if we want to get more women interested in F1 having anyone other than a really competitive driver would not help the cause IMHO.
Given the dreadful economic problems in Venezuela and the low oil price there has got to be a good chance that Maldonado's backing does not continue for much longer.

The rumour mill suggests that Bailiffs have already been at the factory and that various bits and pieces and have been seized and taken. With over 40 judgements against them now that's no surprise.
Renault needs to pull there finger out or maybe that's the plan. Let them go bust, buy them cheap and debt free from the Insolvency Practitioners.

If that's the case will they survive the year as they are? If Renault did get them cheap would they see the year out as Renault-Mercedes instead of Lotus-Mercedes?Renault needs to pull there finger out or maybe that's the plan. Weird stuff like that has happened before, like 'BMW Sauber Ferrari'
Does anyone know what the Lotus budget is compared to other teams?
They seemed to build decent cars on a shoe string in the not too distant past..... just imagine what they could do with an extra 20%..... it would put McHonda to shame for sure.
Nice to see them actually relevant again today.

Although the funds from Pastor must seem nice, is he hindering them from results that could bring in either a) more in prize money then he currently brings in sponsorship b) success that would attract a sponsor that would make them more like Williams and less like Caterham?
A very good question - he brings in what £30m they reckon? How much prize money would they get if they had 2 drivers regularly finishing in the points and finished higher up in the constructors' championship?Europa1 said:

When Kimi was with the team 2012/13 they would have raked in the prize money due to his results, but somehow they still never had any money come end of 2013? Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
