I cancelled my Sky Sports subscription last month, as I hardly ever watched it... Thought it was only football not F1 also lol. Is BBC coverage normally this bad? That annoying woman is she a regular? Am I the only one who's teeth itch when Coulthard is on air?

I quite like coulthard.

I hate the highlights though. Always far too short. I also miss all the non-racing segments that the bbc used to do.

Might have been a good idea to check things out before you cancelled anything?

Not like you've gone from 'free' to 'paying' is it?

Sounds to me like you'd rather have a Murray Walker figure and his 'golden' memories, rather than a decent guy (Coulthard) with a bit of wit and style.

In summary, you weren't using a 'service' you paid for, as you stated, but now complain about the free alternative?

I've only just commented on how absurd this is, but your post above is a bit like paying for cake you don't eat, throwing it away, then complaining the cake you get for free tastes funny.

If I'm missing something here please let me know, cos' I'm a bit stoopid.

No that's it really!

I just think the BBC coverage frankly is very much worse than sky, not by a small margin either, it's night and day difference!

Love in your other post you say DC is witty, I find the exact opposite, it's like he is reading a script and very wooden. He might have been an average F1 driver but surely their must be less dull ones kicking about lol.

I couldn't cope with the BBC lottery coverage. Quite like Coulthard, having him and Brundle together worked well for me.

Anyway, I have Sky now so I don't have to cope with trying to watch a race that silently skips laps. Just a shame I'm still paying the BBC.

Stop being tight and renew your sky sub then wink

Personally i like Coulthard and the BBC coverage in general. Maybe it's just a case of you like what you get used to as i find a lot of the Sky team irritating.

I got a Sky go login from a family member so I have the best of both worlds - for free.
I wish I'd chosen the BBC highlights option today..............

Well fk me! The coverage you pay a huge global corporation a monthly fee to view is better than that of the BBC!

I watch the BBC when it's covered live and RTL when not, I know very little German but it doesn't matter as I watch it for the racing, not all the bumf in-between.

That's the very reason I subscribe to Sky.

Personally I like watching F1 on the BBC and quite like the time savings from the highlight races. I often record it and watch in the evening having avoided the result in the meantime.

Theres no way I'll be paying Sky £550pa for F1 which appears to be the minimum price these days

No one pays full price for Sky. I think I signed up with something like 40% off, more like £300/year than £550. Still not inconsiderable, granted.

I found the highlights a little more disjointed than usual this weekend. Not too sure why either, but I had no feel of the race, or where it was up to.

I enjoy the coverage of the full races on the BBC but I do sometimes pay for coverage on Now TV if I've got a spare weekend.

Funny as I cancelled Sky Sports and movies on Virgin a few weeks ago too; I only had Sports for the F1 and we hardly watched the films, saved myself £43 a month.

I found that I taped the F1 to watch later, I never watched the build up and tended to get bored and wander when watching the race, today has been the first time I've watched the highlights for my F1 fix and I've been more than happy with it.

Three hundred pounds a year to watch telly. Mental. Actually, three hundred pounds to watch 19 lots of two hour races. Certifiable.

Oh go on, start a defence about the Qualifying coverage and other add ons. I'm sure someone will be convinced Sky gives value for money to F1 fans..

It does sound mental doesnt it? I have Sky F1 and its about £450pa. I probably spend more on coffee than that. And yes, thats mental too!

The world has changed so much hasn't it. My parents didnt have any of these costs, broadband, sky, smart phones, netflix etc etc etc.

The simple truth is that I could probably cut my monthly bills by 25% and in reality loose very little.

I really resent the way Sky packages it's products so I won't be paying for it. To be fair I don't watch much TV anyway so I'd never consider spending so much on it. When the BBC has full coverage I will actually watch that in preference to the Sky coverage, when BBC has highlights only I might stream the Sky coverage for free if I don't want to watch the highlights for whatever reason (want to see the full race, highlights too late in the day etc).
