McLaren are 1.5s slower than the Ferrari on the mediums at a high speed track like this. Improvement?
I suppose it's better than being 1.6s slower. But still...Dr Z said:

You'd think that all the Tesco buyers standing behind the interviewers would be keeping there heads down, bribery act and all that
Worked for me one year.....But the reality is that some poor supplier will be footing the bill for all of it, just so that they can keep product on the shelves.

This. Back over a second gap now we are on a fast track with flowing corners. Like I've said several times this year, the 'threat' from Ferrari is nowhere near as much as the media (or Ferrari management) are making out.
But we get to listen to Totto 'Terminator' Wolf, and he's much more likeable than that smug bd Mr Horner.I know there's been talk of Riccardo to Ferrari next year, and it being poo pooed, but he's driving for a team that might not exist in F1 the as it continues to mope about like some spoilt child.

It is more thank likely Redbull will exist in F1 next year, even if they do decide to quit. Plus they would have to announce their withdrawal almost immediately in order for Ricciardo to have a chance to sign with Ferrari. Then there is the fact that he is barely beating Kvyat these last few races and Seb will not want him at Ferrari anyway. I just can't see that move happening.
Alonso with Button's tyres? Classic Mclaren.....
How much more of this crap with Button and Alonso put up with ? Alonso was already at breaking point before he joined........ I'm sure he knew it would be bad but would he really expect so little (no?) progress in almost 4 months.
Feel sorry for Jenson really, Mclaren strung him along last year and treated him like dirt, then deliver a total donkey of a car that is barely worth turning up to drive. Ron / Mclaren are living off past glory - it is 17 years since they last won a constructors title.

That's classic mclaren right there, heading for years in the st by the looks of it.
I mean it could be worse, Jenson could have signed for Nissan in the WEC....but even that's looking like a better drive right now.
Difference is nissan have admitted they went the wrong way re this years car.I mean it could be worse, Jenson could have signed for Nissan in the WEC....but even that's looking like a better drive right now.

After the death of Clark, I've only followed teams. Not a conscious decision, but they are in the sport longer than any one driver. I started with Lotus, moved on to Brabham then McLaren took my fancy at the start of MP4 times. I've supported them through thick and thin, success, failure and attacks from the FIA. I find it hard to bother now. I find I lack the enthusiasm to get upset at their failures at such a basic level.

Even in their most recent glory days with Hakkinen they had these failures quite often. Then in the early 2000s with Raikkonen they produced the fastest car a couple of times but still managed to blow it. Now they can't even get the right tyres on. It really is like these errors are part of their DNA now. I used to follow Mclaren as well.... very hard to give a crap these days but I do feel bad for the drivers, even though I don't particularly like either.

One downside though what happened to the cars?
Ah yes, that small detail of F1 cars being crap? No problem though:http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2015/07/f1-learns-a-...
Good day out today - nursing a bit of sunburn, which I don't expect to be added to tomorrow....
Loads of photos, but I thought I'd post the fluke shot of the day for me - a bit grainy, but it was a bit dull and the planes were about a mile away
Great to see the Williams beat the Ferraris and good to see Lewis on Pole - last time I was at the GP (2007) Lewis snatched pole in the dying seconds, but failed to convert it to the win on the Sunday - would be great to see him take the win tomorrow
