Just reading back Sniff Petrol's Twitter. These made me smile:

Sniff Petrol @sniffpetrol
"Um, Felipe, the thing is, erm, Valtteri is, um, faster than... oh you know the rest..." #F1

Sniff Petrol @sniffpetrol
All the Williams mechanics are giggling and whispering "multi 21" into the radio. #F1

Sniff Petrol @sniffpetrol
Meanwhile, over on Sky, Ted Kravtiz has switched to his intermediate sandals.

Actually the inability of either merc to overtake (until it rained ) given their clear pace advantage is problematic.
If Williams had pitted at the same time as Mercedes it is likely that it would have been status quo, as it was with rosberg.
Just the general issue with F1 aero at the moment, nothing unusual today compared to other races.

The latter.

Dirty fkers, Vettel and Rosberg. Speaking English before Lewis arrived and then German.
It seems to be Rosberg who starts that, but not absolutely sure. Petty way to exclude his team mate.
Lewis should have said a few choice words in German
Why?

So they switch to speaking German , there still the 2 quickest loosers today.

Ah well, I enjoyed a daydream about Williams winning. But what is going to happen about the Merc dummy pit stop, 'cos my belief is that is just not allowed - so what is going to happen?

They might have got away with it but Toto admitted it was a ploy - maybe the FIA will have a word but hopefully no more than that.

Last time i was at Silverstone watching the cars fly though bridge ( blind ) at 190 mph was something to behold , watching overtakes though there was chilling. This pitstop lark spoilt it for me. Good result for Lewis tho.
When was that? Bridge was easy flat in the 2000s.

No, this is a good thing. What a boring race it would've been if they'd been able to overtake after a few laps. If the quickest car always wins what is the point in watching.

In a way the rain saved Williams from the embarrassment of throwing away a race win - if they had been willing to manage their drivers and it had stayed dry they could've won.

Have Sky asked Ted to be more like Kay Burley or something, and prod people into getting frustrated with him?

No, they couldn't. Lewis always had a second in half effectively in clean air on them. Not just that but if Williams had stopped VB earlier than Lewis who stopped first, they would have dropped him into traffic and ruined the plan. Same for Massa. If they had told Massa to let VB through then...well you are into a very different argument and as VB told us he had once chance to do the job and that was it. After that once chance into Club was gone, Massa had him covered every lap.

Hamilton torched the in-lap and then torched the out lap and was quite comfortably gone by the time Ros and the Williams had cycled through the pits.

That would have been 1991-1993 then. The Abbey chicane was added for 1994, so there's no way they'd have been doing 190mph through Bridge after that.

Ah back in the days when girls were prettier, music had a tune, smoking was healthy and F1 didn't have pit stops.

(it's always been like this)

Ran the historic layout once (classic meeting with group c), bridge was real eye opener, arriving way faster than i was used to, the bump before bridge scared the hell out of me too...

Well, I think Mercedes will be off trying to poach whoever the hell at Williams deals with their starting clutch.......

Cracking race - be interesting to know just how fast Valteri would have been if Massa got out of the way. He was catching in the dirty air and taking better lines. Bet the Mercs are a bit worried, they need rain to get past the Williams...

Much as I hate to say it, I reckon Nico actually would have taken Lewis had it not been for the rain and that second (crystal ball enhanced?) pit stop call. He seemed much happier at the end of the stint, even in the light rain, which is even more surprising. I do wonder how much Lewis was on tippy toes to make sure he didn't fall off the track and lose!

Where the hell did Vettel come from? That boy can drive it seems does it not? Always there in with a shout for a podium...

Poor old Button, didn't even get a lap at his home GP, but at least it wasn't his car that let him down today.

Just WTF did those Loti do? Want to see a few more slo mo's of that, can't quite understand just how it all went so wrong, can only assume people were losing the rear into the corner on cold tyres.

Hamilton didn't come out in traffic, so why would a car running ahead of him at the time come out in traffic?

{whisper}Massa is a good driver. Bottas is not the only Williams driver.{whisper}
