Whats the rules on the restarts now after the safety car (can't remember if it was the virtual one)? LH went off the track and VB passed him before the start/finish line. It used to be no passing before the S/F line, I take it that has changed now?

Just catching up on all the interviews, RD calling Eddie Jordan a village idiot is a disgrace imo. Rob Smedley coming across very poorly in his interview with Ted, too.

Lewis a bit more vocal about his involvement in the strategy call than he was in Monaco hehe That's the second time I've seen him dive into the pits with Nico bearing down on him, I think Malaysia was the other one.

Anyhow, inspired call this time round, and Nico honest to say he thought Lewis got it wrong, when I eventually found his interview; all the web sites are wall-to-wall Hamilton.
Do you ever post without a Dig at Hamilton?

And the web is usually wall to wall winner. Apart from you, Vonuber and his parents nobody gives a tug what Nico has to say.

I'm a British F1 fan but the F1 bit comes well before the British bit, so actually I want to hear what every driver has to say. If you're a fan too then why wouldn't you?
Doesn't mean you can't support one driver over another.

Changed years ago. They can race after the first safety car line, which is before club at Silverstone.

Jesus, try not to be such a bellend just because I am not joining in the Hamilton PH circle jerk.

It amuses me to think that if it was, say, Hulkenberg in the Merc seat instead of Lewis, it would be amazing how many threads there would be about how it is all down to the car and nothing else, with posts mentioning rocketships etc. Ho hum.

Anyway, Lewis did a great job today, benefitted form some good Merc strategy and some poor Williams strategy, kept it on the tarmac and went fast when he needed to. Can't ask for more than that.

Go on, wave your little union jack even more furiously, the Daily Mail is proud of you.

Genuine motorsport fans will be interested in what all the drivers have to say.
1) I'm not British, so don't wave a Union Jack.

2) You betray your claim to be a 'genuine motorsport fan' with your incessant anti-LH/pro-NR posting. A genuine Motorsport fan would, maybe, show support for his favourite driver without the negativity for the other.

3) More people would care what Nico had to say if he was less petulant and got on with racing.

What circle jerk is that?

The fastest current driver in the fastest car and British to boot. If you're not a Brit, then fair enough. If you are British, not supporting a British driver is a bit odd.

Why is it? I prefer Jenson to Lewis. I prefer Williams and Ferrari over both.

I'd say that the British web sites were wall to wall..... British winner of British GP, that wasn't a flag to flag win, with poor weather thrown in to mix it all up, after several difficult situations (off track twice and a bad start), and a weekend that was significant for his place in the record books.... It's not that much of a shock and it isn't difficult to find the Nico interviews anyway.

An interesting race

A race thrown away by Williams by a complete lack of strategy to actually try and win it

A race where Hamilton drove well, and got the luck at the same time

The safety car and virtual safety car calls seemed strange to me though, both incidents appeared to be similar in nature, yet different strategies were employed. Hamilton lucked in there as well, not losing he shrinking lead due to the VSC car call

Main issue, the race was yet again won in the pits, with Hamilton jumping the Williams on strategy not passing on track

Maybe you and your dog, but er...no.

Go and live around the world a little bit and there are only 4 drivers that anybody actually wants to hear from: Hamilton, BJ, Kimi and Alonso.
The Germans actually call Seb "Nicht Michael" and don't even pretend bothering to consider Nico one of theirs. If you can find a German Rosberg fan then good luck, I suspect its a fan club of one. Merc have even started favouring Hamilton over Rosberg in Germany with the advertising!

I always found patriotism best applied to thing like wars rather than motor races.

And should we just support British teams?

How does it work if you are have a mixed background?

I was at the race... to the naysayers; just switch off; it's just one press of that power button (I assume you're watching on telly and not live from a grandstand of course) - the atmosphere was amazing; the grandstands were packed; and whilst Merc were always looking good for the win; the race did throw up some unexpected twists; all of which were lapped up by the fans.

I don't mind the current Merc' dominance as it's based on genuine ingenuity and design - rather than tyres being made to purposely fail or a dominance that is in some way 'rigged' or at least slanted. Mercedes have just simply nailed this gen' car and whilst we'd all like more completion at the front; I don't actually want to see Mercedes compromised just to give others a chance. Let the other teams step up to the mark. Simple. It's a British trait of faux sportsmanship, I feel, that wants to see a winning outfit diluted to give others a chance. If Merc' were cheating or had something that was truly bending the rules in some way; fair enough... but the car is the sum of its parts; just beautifully designed and packaged. There's nothing that stands out as 'the' reason for its dominance. Other eras of dominance; the car has often had one trick component or some clever interpretation of the rules that they've exploited; not so with these Mercs. They are a marvel in my mind.

The atmosphere truly showed that the crowd is a part of the weekend and it's what lacks at many of the races on the calendar. I loved that Alonso got cheers as he went by; as well, the support for Williams was great to see and I think everyone felt like they could have fought harder / more inteligently. Vettel, some how some way; always ends up there and I think his year being beaten by DR was easy to take out of context; he's certainly hustling that Ferrari. Sad for Button; rumours he'll be gone next year and so a final year in F1 with such a dog of an engine is sad.

Seperately; I have to praise Silverstone - got in easy with no jam; got though gates easy and got back out with as little hassle; remarkable given the attendance. Great staff, marshals, stands, etc.

So he reclaimed one place he lost from a poor start. Mucked up the restart after the SC and overtook Massa who was on the wrong tyres.
Perez. A true contender ??? Gimme a break!
Looked like his pit crew did the hard work.
Team effort.
Nothing special in F1 terms from Lewis.
Lol... You asked a question.... I answered it... You can't have it both ways chap.

Did you dream that someone claimed lewis won by overtaking lots? I think most people have said it was a good drive and that tactics made the difference.
I agree. Tactics.
IE correct tyre choice, and faster pit crews.
Racing Jim, but not as we knew it.
Bear with me, I'm just a nostalgic old duffer.

Then can you not sod off to go push some daisies up already rather than filling every F1 thread on here up with your ste? It really is tedious.

Agreed; just start another thread to discuss how great the eras of old were... (and many were not actually that great; but tints of a rose nature affect ones memory of them).

Seems like some people can't stand that it was hailed a great race and that it was most certainly a success for those in attendance at Silverstone.

I went to the race yesterday, really enjoyed the whole day. Got a grandstand seat in Village A and have added some photos, so anyone who's thinking of going next year can see what the view was.

Lots of incidents and a few overtakes and plenty of opportunity to watch the cars go through the village complex. Prices are quite good as well.

McLaren appear to have come up with a cunning plan to eke out their engine component supply and avoid grid penalties. The drivers are now taking turns to crash on the first lap, thereby saving engine mileage.

I thought that the Ron Dennis interview was bizarre. Ron isn't noted for his sense of humour, let's be honest, so the crack about Eddie Jordan came right out of the blue. To be fair, whatever Ron says can't make his situation any worse.
Pressure showing?
