Don't know if it's been mentioned, but having that bint sing the National Anthem was little short of toe-curlingly embarrassing. Why, in the name of all things holy, do we have to lower ourselves to the level of the bloody Americans?
Or perhaps raised some semblance of patriotism for one's own country - something we are pretty poor at here and maybe something we could learn from the Americans.
Isn't it better to be objective about our country rather than - as seems to be the case for many if most Americans - my country right or wrong?

As for the singing, I had to leave the room. Toe-curling doesn't even begin to describe the god-awful warbling. It's not a great anthem - a turgid and dull tune - but do it straight and it's tolerable. This was just gruesome.
I think it's the only occasion I've changed channel whilst the National Anthem has been played. It was excruciating.

I'm not a fan of the trend that has developed to get a singer in at sporting events to sing the anthem. It may not be the best tune, but it is easy, and the words to the first verse are easy to remember. Crowds are sporting events are prefectly able to belt it out lustily without some "professional" chanteuse out to make a name for herself by putting her own unique stamp on it, and I actually think it has more impact when the crowd is just left to sing it.

Remember Hamilton throwing away his chance at his first championship at (one of?) the last GPs in his first season by overcooking his entrance to the pits?

Pretty ham-fisted too, no?
not when you look at what happened there...

his rookie year, team told him to stay out too long, tyres were totally f**ked, he failed to make the pit entrance turn and got stuck in the gravel.
Yes, he went off, but he should not have been left out there on tyres that were clearly shagged, made it almost impossible to judge the level of grip at low speed into a tight corner.

yes Very very shagged indeed when bits of rubber are off the tyre completely and down to the carcass

Spa & Fuji. In Spa the stewards retrospectively added that they have to wait one more turn before going for another overtake- contrast this to Suzuka 2005 when Alonso was involved in a carbon copy incident. In Fuji locking a wheel in T1/Lap 1 resulted in a penalty, this is the only race this has ever happened, T1/L1 incidents like this were 'overlooked' from the very next race unless someone did something very stupid. The Massa/Bordais incident was absolutely fascicle too.
Those were such a terrible times. I remember even a good % of the scarlet-rinsed tifosi calling BS on hamiltons spa penalty. They put on a brave face but I wonder if mclaren really ever recovered from mosleys determined little campaign to destroy/discredit them, whether their war scars were their gradual decline into todays mediocrity

Pretty clear case of 12 points plus a big fine for driving with tyres like that!
