Looking to take My wife and boy (8) to the race next year.

Any hints and tips would be great.

Looking at the Raddison hotel for about 8/9 days.

Good reason!

No idea about what you asked, just curious as to what drew you to that race smile

I wouldnt bother. The hotel are poor, the service in any bar or restaurant is poor and the general area around the circuit is desolate and bleak to be honest

You will need a Russian visa, which isn't cheap and do not expect European levels of service nor help. Yes the winter Olympics improved the area somewhat but like the old French GP at Magny Cours the hotels are somewhat basic and although a nice area is not blessed with 4* accommodation. I think a flight change may also be necessary, not sure anybody flies direct to Sochi.

Yes, you have to fly via Istanbul if you're travelling from Europe and the arrival times are a bit interesting. Enjoy collecting your rental car at 3am...

You'll need to go the Russian Embassy to get your Visa as they take your fingerprints these days.

It's an interesting place, certainly, but not in a good way. I'll put it this way: I wouldn't go there by choice.
