Is this really a priority at the moment? Is it even significant given the current state of affairs?

It may or may not be but as it's the subject of the thread I thought I would comment.

To be fair to Lewis he hasn't complained about the quality of F1 and has stated that it is still challenging. Ok, that is easy when he is winning, but if he then gets a cheap plastic trophy which doesn't befit the supposed status of winning a race at the pinnacle of motorsport why shouldn't he comment about it, as already stated trophies are important to him.

Completely agree. And Lewis is right, the trophies are st. That floppy red Santander logo one I saw last year was ridiculous.

The wreaths have gone, and the metal trophies. Next year they're going to be spraying bottles of Bucks Fizz at eachother.
Do you think the Champagne currently costs more than the trophies?

I have no idea, but I think it costs more than Bucks Fizz.

Quite the opposite, I imagine the Champagne houses pay a considerable sum to have their product on display.

Yep, so the cost is with the champagne houses smile

I'm starting to think he's a bit of a wind up merchant.
He's like a wannabe who succeeds, then gets back out of the car and is a wannabe again....

EDIT: I've got to admit I quite like it, in a Revenge Of The Nerds way. He's like the worlds least successful loser.

yes
Time and effort involved, also heavily weighted according to the post race show.
Unlike some of the others which are probably just products of a 3D printer.

Seriously, F1 has bigger issues than the quality of the trophies: Lewis Whining
only a small point, but the Hamilton by numbers video is hopelessly wrong (out of date).

And I agree with Lewis, they trophies are embarrassing.

Time and effort? It looked like about £150 worth of laser-cut veneered wood to me. At least if something is 3D printed you need a 3D CAD model of it first, which takes a lot longer to get right than a 2D profile.

AFAIC the trophies accurately reflect the status of winning a Formula Farce Grand Prix. Who cares?

Looks like someone listened as the BBC's coverage started with the presenters stood next to a proper-looking trophy. hehe

Comments by Lauda. He gave his away for free carwashes. He later got them back and they ended up on Ebay. hehe
