My Mrs has surprised me for my birthday with general ticket access for the F1 on Sunday. I will be traveling from Birmingham which is about an hour away from Hinton Park and Ride. Its the first time I have been to Silverstone so can anyone give me a heads up on what time I should be aiming to leave Birmingham. I originally thought leaving about 0800 but Im thinking with traffic and the Park and Ride it will take a good few hours to reach the venue.

Im not too fussed about getting there mega early Id be happy with 1100 hrs. Would leaving at 0800 be enough to arrive at 1100.

I'm in woodlands campsite almost next to the circuit and will be leaving in 20minutes. 11am will not allow you to get the seat you want.

Here's a reality check for you from someone who used to go every year.

You're potentially missing the best races on Sunday.

For me Sunday is the worst value for money day, and you need to be there early to get best value. Getting there for 11am and you're missing the GP3 and GP2 races and most of the Porsche race.

Seriously leave at 6. On Park and Ride when you hit traffic watch others and when near the track they will simply get off and walk as it will be quicker.

Have a good breakfast and bring your own lunch. Yes, plenty of food outlets at Silverstone but expensive and long long queues.

Getting there at 11 with general admission your going to struggle getting a half decent view.

Id go up tonight camp at dadford then you can get into the track early ( 730) and get a decent view.
