Meanwhile Nissan (Red Bull's named partner being Infiniti) continue to develop their own hybrid power system. Get that idea working, reduce the capacity by half, there you go, Red Bull with Infiniti power.

Front engined of course hehe
Renault owns quite a large chunk of Nissan.

Andy Palmer may be the key. He was head of Infiniti when they did the sponsorship deal with RBR. He is now in charge at Aston and gets on well with Christian Horner and the top people at RBR. I had some conversations with Andy a few years ago and he was saying the screen time for Infiniti during the races relative to the amount they paid was very good and raised their global profile dramatically (not that Aston particularly need that).

I'd be gobsmacked if anything fell out of this as an F1 engine deal

I just took it to mean that Newey is drawing a Aston road car as its long been mooted that he wants to do such a project in the same mode as the 'La ferrari' and the mclaren P1

and I suppose it 'might' have a merc V12 in the back / front of it ?
