Well, something is fundamentally wrong at Mclaren since they became a consistent winning team again, ie 1997.

Since then they have won one Constructors championship and TWO drivers championships out of 36 contested.

Maybe it's a lack of quality people within the organisation.

Maybe the Woking facilities impress people from the outside but in reality the facilities are not good enough for new F1. Remember Ferrari has a mega factory but their wind tunnel was found woefully lacking especially from 2009-2013 when Red Bull kicked everyone's arse.

Perhaps one man - ie Ron Dennis - has too much say so and goes against engineers wishes.

Maybe there is a lack of engineer morale and performances suffer

Maybe the 'stiff as a board/corporate' atmosphere is just that, too 'corporate' and lacking passion and zeal. Certainly the drivers seem fed up.

Etc etc etc

If I was an F1 driver and wanted to win a championship, Mclaren would not be that team. They have shown in the past 18 years they they are a consistent B-level team (1998, 1999 and 2008 are exceptions). Other than that they have failed.....repeatedly.

The question is.....why? Certainly it's not because of lack of budget or driving talent.

Sadly as an ex employee of the Woking super employer I fear that too many talented people left in 2003/4 as the factory relocated. The team lost its feeling, employees became employees not team members and the fabric changed. Many have moved on to other teams or to other forms of motorsport, some have walked away from the sport and some have retired. I do not believe the employees there today are so driven to win, but are there for a salary and the association. Just my 2p's worth....but when chatting to fellow ex workers the same issues constantly crop up.

Exactly. The whole thing has this corporate, well oiled machine, effeciency driven emotionless feeling to it.

Could be wrong on that but you yourself attest, even the existing colleagues say the same; just there for a salary and going through the daily motions.

I really want to like Mclaren---but they make it so difficult with this corporate atmosphere thing.

Time for RD to step away. ?
